And what would that be? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif Santana's salary that's five times more than Verlander's? At this point in time, it seems a wash to me.

Santana is a better pitcher....everyone but most Tiger fans seem to know this

oh my god....tee come on?!!

you are basing your arguement on 1st half stats??

(like I said....Santana had one bad outing which ruined his ERA and WHIP)

answer me though...Justin for Johan straight up?

How many years are left on Santana's contract? 18 million per for a starting pitcher in their 30's is an awful lot. Verlander's stuff is just as good as Santana's I've watched Santana pitch a lot in Minnesota. He has a better change up than Verlander, but Verlander's isn't too bad. It's good enough for a third pitch. I think Verlander has a slightly better fastball, and both have terrific breaking pitches. If I'm a GM, it's hard for me to trade an ace pitcher that is 4 years younger and much much cheaper for another ace pitcher that is in their 30's and making an awful lot of money.

bet ya $5 that Santana will put up better numbers than Verlander this season //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif
You know, I will take that bet. I am confident enough that Verlander has figured it out that he is on pace to have a terrific season.

Im not talking about money...Im talking about talent
Verlander has better stuff IMO than Santana. He has great command of his fastball that he can work at 96-98, a terrific curveball, and a good changeup. You really need to watch Verlander pitch. His curve this year is nothing short of amazing. Going on the fact that Santana is 30, and reports are his fastball topped out at 92, I may take Verlander on this. If we are talking the Santana at 26-27 in Minnesota sure, but I also don't think we have seen Verlander's peak.

Ive seen Verlander pitch...he's impressive

Santana is just more dominating

So what if he tops out at 92mph...when you have the best change in MLB it doesnt matter

I would rather have a master on the mound than a flamethrower

(Maddux over Randy Johnson)

Verlander has learned to pitch. That is why he has had such a great turn around. The first game of the year he gave up 8 runs in 3 innings. Than he gave up 5 in 5 innings to Seattle, then had a sit down with Knapp and discovered the art of pitching. Speaking of Knapp, he had a hand in Santana's success //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
