**The MLB Thread**

I say Washington pays no more than 30 million for Strasburg which is still fawking ridiculous. He gonna be making like 5-6 mil a year + a 20-25 million signing bonus.

Can't wait for next year and 2011 to see where 3 of my former teammates gets drafted. 2 of them already got drafted out of HS(3rd round + 6th round in 07+08) and both turned down $1.5million+ to go to school.

This will surely be brought up in the CBA. Even though Detroit has benefited from this, it's unfair that top talent can drop to the Yankees and Red Sox just because they will pay more money. On top of that, you can't even trade the picks.

Tigers have expressed interest in Brad Hawpe. I think Hawpe would be a great addition. Slugs 500 with a near 900 ops. Away from Coors he's slugging 520 with an OPS over 900 and 6 of his 9 homers on the road. Hawpe would provide the offense that Magglio is not. problem is, Detroit is thin on prospects and can't add salary and Colorado isn't going to take Magglio, Guillen, Willis, Robertson.

Verlander has been filthy. Jackson has been putting up Cy Young worthy numbers so far. Too bad the rest of the rotation is weak.
