who the hell ever compared Rocco Baldeli to A-rod? They aren't even similar players in the least.

why is Smoltz signing in Boston? Isn't their rotation complete? He obviously isn't going to replace Papelbon.

It's not the injuries, it's the fact that he has some condition that he gets extremely drained after 2 innings and can barely stand anymore.

He's got a shitload of talent, but he just can't stay on the field.

As far as Smoltz...don't really care anymore. The Braves organization is all talk no action...they wanted Peavy but didn't want to part with minor league talent...they wanted to sign Burnett but let the Yankees sign him, they can't sign Furcal...they trade for Teix and then can't negotiate a deal and trade him a year later. They lost Smoltz, Glavine, Hampton (none of which contributed much last year anyway), Hudson is done for the season most likely, no one in their starting rotation would be higher than a #3 on any other team and their bullpen is injury prone.

They've got some young guys that are very talented and have already had success in the majors- McCann, Escobar, Kotchman, Kelly Johnson, and Francoeur (although he took a huge step back last season) are all young players that have played very well. But they have absolutely no pitching, and their big move of the offseason was acquiring Javier Vasquez, which doesn't do much for me.

They aren't the team they were when Turner was able to spend money.

ATL made an offer to Lowe...although its been said the mets are the favorites

Mets got Redding...ok for #5 (no Pedro?)

If Mets sign Wolf or Ollie...I would be fine (as long as they get Manny!)

Have to admit that was a great deal for the Braves. But I'm sure they'll move Jurrjens, they're bound to.

They also got Gorkys Hernandez who is a raw talent. Seems to be a speedy leadoff type guy, but he a long ways away.

Looks like Kotsay is staying with the Red Sox, I really thought he would have gone elsewhere to be a starter. I guess it's good for the Sox, he's a pretty solid back up to Youk! As far as them signing Smoltz I'm a little confused. Their start up rotation is pretty solid, maybe they will look to him for a middle reliever?? Rocko is a good pick up IMO, from what I read they actually got him for a good price. Hopefully he can stay healthy!

According to David O’Brien of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, the Braves meeting with Derek Lowe lasted five hours yesterday, complete with a video presentation and a recorded message from country music artist Alan Jackson.
O’Brien believes the Braves will make an offer today.
