**The MLB Thread**

Why I dislike Yankee fans:

“The Giants intend to meet with free-agent left-hander CC Sabathia,” reports Ken Rosenthal at FoxSports.com.
Meanwhile, the Red Sox sat down with Sabathia yesterday to talk about the structure of a deal, says Jon Heyman at SI.com.

Meanwhile, WFAN’s Mike Francesca, a.k.a., ‘the biggest Yankee fan,’ is on air during his popular drive-time radio show, freaking out about Sabathia.

Basically, Francesa believes Sabathia is embarrassing the Yankees, by taking so long to accept their six-year, $140 million deal.

“Shut up,” Francesa is saying, “Enough already, why does this guy need to be sold on the Yankees.”

According to Francesa, “Sabathia is not Johan Santana,” the Yankees should give up at this point and move on.

He has received several phone calls from listeners who feel the same with, with one saying, “He should be honored to be on the Yankees. If he doesn’t get it, then go home.”

…it’s just so funny…Yankee fans just can’t believe a professional baseball player would consider signing with another team, let alone for less money…i love it…

That is fantastic. It drives down the price of Putz and Wood.
Mets might Wood as a setup man....or trade for Street or Fuentes

setup man with cloer experience and KRod = WIN //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

now we just need a reliable 2nd baseman //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

A closer is more prestigious and he would rather be the closer then a setup man. I like Putz better then Wood, but Wood wouldn't cost prospects. Ideally the Tigers will sign Wood and trade Putz. Then if they could trade Sheffield or Guillen, that would be tits.

Joel Sherman explains that it was Omar Minaya who approached the Rockies about swapping Pedro Feliciano and Aaron Heilman for Huston Street. The Rockies considered it, explains Sherman, but when they turned to Minaya to accept the deal, the Mets changed their mind

According to Dan Graziano, in the Star-Ledger, the Mets could have traded Aaron Heilman for Marquis, “But the Mets passed on the deal because they were trying to use Heilman in other deals (for bullpen help) and because they didn’t think Marquis was better than what they have in their projected 2009 rotation.”
