**The MLB Thread**

Yeah, when picking up Donnelly is their big bully move... They are gonna lose a lot of late inning leads, including some to the Yankees probably which is going to be that much more bitter.
the yankees pen is even worse. i thought the tigers exposed this last year? they have no one to get the ball to rivera. boston has a solid pen but they don't have a designated closer. the red sox also have a more balanced offense. the yankees are getting old and still don't have a 1st basemen. giambi is not the answer there. wang, pettite, mussina make a decent rotation, but pettite and mussina are in their decline.

this hall of fame is BS. you mean ripken plays in all those consecutive games without some sort of performance enhancing drugs and yet we have no suspesion he took anything?
hall of fame voting is bogus....pete rose holds what the one of the top 3 records to hold and isnt in it? for histories sake put those in it with the full story of what they did....good and bad. i just dont like it when writters have such a say so in every aspect of the sport. half of those sports writters are known or are recignized for 1 aspect and are treated like they know everything.....

i remember some douchebag in chicago ranked jeter 10th in the mvp vote cause he wanted his guy jermaine dye to win it. just because you are not big and don't hit a ton of homeruns means you didn't take steroids. steroids help you recover from injury and be able to play a full season and say play what 2600 games in a row? how do we know ripken and gwynn didn't take steroids and mcgwire did?

i cant say but the point of my post was 1/2 the people or more that vote dont really know what all a player deals with fully over a course of a yr let alone a career
imo it should be voted in by former hof but then you may get favoritsm and all that. mcgwire really isn't anything spectacular. one-dimensial player. had a 2-4 year span where he was dominate, but outside of that just good

HOF?

McGwire - NO!

Bonds - NO!

Palmeiro - NO!

Pete Rose - HELL NO! He bet on his friggin team! Did you hear me? HE BET ON THE TEAM HE WAS MANAGING! The punishment for betting on baseball is posted in every MLB & minor league locker room. He knew it, he did it, he lied about it and only NOW seems to admit he did anything wrong. Ska-rew him!

if you are gonna keep mcgwire and bonds out, then you can't vote gwynn or ripken in. just because they aren't big doesn't mean they weren't on steroids. steroids will help you recover from injuries and be able to take the field for 2600 games straight

There is no evidence whatsoever that either of the inductees took roids. By that logic, Lou Gehrig was on roids. Mac played with roiders, had a roider roll on him, grew to ridiculous proportions while putting up the biggest numbers the game had ever seen at the tail end of his career, then chose not to testify about roids so as not to incriminate himself.

While any one of those points is not, in and of itself, proof that he did, the cumulative effect is all but irrefutable.

I am convinced that each of the suspected cheaters did in fact cheat, I find it highly doubtful that you actually believe that Cal did so.

ripken and gwynn played in the steroids era. what evidence do you have that mcgwire took steroids? where did he admit to it? where is the positive test? just because ripken didn't hit 583 homeruns, means he didn't take steroids. not saying he did, but you never know and if you are throwing mcgwire under the bus for steroid suspension, why not gwynn and ripken and whoever is elegible here after?

imo if he did or didnt he still hit 49 homers as a skinny rookie and if he didnt get caught before nor was checked by baseball (lets face it MLB dropped the ball here not the players, there was no steriod policy). he should be in even with an astrisk if they so desire...you cant make moral integrity of the game higher after the fact... he did what he did and if writters want to play games about it so be it but if it wasnt for those players doing what they did baseball wouldnt be nearly as big as it is now. there was a time when baseball was dieing quick and imo baseball itself ushered these players to do whatever it took.

mcgwire and sosa saved vaseball now they are getting thrown under the bus
i agree you can't impose rules they have now on players that retired before this witch hunt started. parents want to blame the players for using the drugs? because reguardless everyone knew they could be bad..but what happened to the parents haveing this talk with their kids to start with? why doesnt baseball just admit they didnt care as long as it put fans in the stands? way because its easier for them to all point at 4-10 players than it is for 50-100 people who help run baseball to take blame. after all it would cost them money and all it costs the players is their legacy...

look at all the relief pitchers who tested positive, and alex sanchez, i mean come on, don't be so naive that ripken or gwynn couldn't have taken steroids. also just because you take steroids doesn't mean you'll hit 500 homeruns.
