**The MLB Thread**

inge is a fluke
offensively he had an above average power season, but below average ba. he was a top catching prospect a few years ago so idk how he is a fluke. he's played the more games at 3rd base then anybody in the league since 2005 and has developed into one of the top defensive 3rd basemen in the game and at 6 million per, not a bad deal

zito doesnt deserve 20 mil...but he'll probably get it

we should look into Mulder or Harden in a trade

If the Red Sox lowball Matzusuka, the Mets could probably get him (they had the 2nd highest bid)
what happened to the mets supposedly signing all these players?

tigers have had the best off-season. got sheffield relatively cheap considering the free agent market, singed inge and bonderman to extensions that were at pretty good prices, only lost jamie walker from the world series. not too thrilled about the casey signing but there really wasn't anyone better available where the tigers didn't have to give up a lot. minnesota lost radke and liriano, chicago hasn't done anything, cleveland added dellucci which isn't anything special, so detroit set themselves to make a run at the division again

Actually not a free agent but rather buying out his remaining arbitration years and his free agent year plus one.

If he were not just 24, he would be overpaid. Well, overpaid in any other FA market than this one. If he continues to improve, it's a bargain. If not, well it was worth the risk.

Course, if he were on the Angels and Bartolo Colon makes it back, he would be in the bullpen. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

i know they bought out his arbitration years but at 9.5 million per it's a pretty good deal.

tigers are really in a pickle with guillen. since detroit is a contender this year you don't want to trade guillen, but you'd hate to have him walk in the offseason, and guillen is gonna command a lot of money as a SS but his future at short is not too good.

Well, take some solace in the fact that he probably just had his career year. Any studs at SS in the Tigers' pipeline?
