You basically said players should not be paid for what they've done in the past, since you feel that you cannot judge a player's worth (as far as salary) for what he's done in the past.

What should we base pay on if we cannot base it on past performance?

In all seriousness, whether he is worth the money is irrelevant as he has already been signed. Now if it is a good signing or not will be determined on the field, not on a car audio forum. See what I'm gettin' at.??

the point i'm getting at, is if he has a good season by his standards it is not worth 9 million. if you are expecting him to have breakout seasons then you should never be allowed to make baseball decisions

it was stupid to sign him to that deal from the begining. do you really expect pierre to get better? he is gonna be in his 30's and will slow down and not be able to beat out those infield hits

My point is it doesn't matter if he's worth it or not. He can still contribute in a good way to an organization that is in diar need of offense.
