**The MLB Thread**

Not really sure how you can say that. If you're talking about this year I would agree. But if you're talking about careers I would have to beg to differ. Jeter has had a long career with very little injuries and ALOT of consistency. He's not a big power hitter or a base stealer but he has a LONG career history of making the big plays in the post season. He's a steady player who always gives 100%. I'm not saying Reyes couldn't end up having an even BETTER career than Jeter but Reyes hasn't even seen post season yet so you can't really even put Reyes in the same class as Jeter. YET !! The future will tell if he was better or not.
i want to see how great jeter would be on the royals. since coming to detroit guillen, has put up comparable numbers to jeter. i don't believe the context of the question was of all time, but right now. if A-rod was still playing SS, this wouldn't even be a question

wow un****enbelevable. royals had bases loaded nobody out in the 8th and didn't score a run. they had a 1-0 lead in the 9th with 2 outs and nelson gives up a solo home run to mauer, and then the royals loose it in 10 innings

Ok, Reyes is not better than Jeter. He has not played long enough to even be considered in the same class as Jeter. It is funny when we see someone do good for a year or two and we start comparing to indiviuals who have been playing for over 10 years. Do not get me wrong, Reyes is a very good player and may become an even better player, but only time can tell. Also, I believe Jeter can go to the Royals, Tampa bay, and be just as good as he is with the Yankees in stats, hustle and heart. Sometimes, I wonder could others come to the Yankees and live up to the big stage, media, and fans and produce like the do in other cities. Kerri Wood was considered the next Roger Clemens and unfortunately injuries prevented that and he is not even or will he ever be Roger Clemens. There is a lot to being a good player. Derek is clutch, hustle, heart, and a champion and not many players have that or will ever get that. Reyes is a remarkable talent, but he needs years under his belt, numbers and a championship comparable or better than Jeters, before we can remotely say he is in the same catergory as Jeter. So Reyes

Peace

i gauruntee you jeter would not be the player he is on new york if he was on the royals. when you have veteran hitters like giambi, rodriguez, sheffield, matsui, tino martinez, paul o'neal, bernie williams you will be a better hitter then having dejesus, paul buck, shane costas, angel berroa, angel sanchez etc batting behind you. also jeter didn't win these titles by himself. do we forget, orlando hernander, david wells, david cone, mariano rivera? again the statement was greatest ever, but as of RIGHT NOW. also what i don't understand is when A-rod came to new york, he had a gold glove at SS and jeter didn't. whyd did A-rod go to 3rd, and jeter stay at SS?

Reyes > Jeter

I agree reyes is better than jeter this season

you however cannot compare them to eachother for more than that, jeter like its been said has a much longer career, reyes is just starting out his career and looking very promising.

I am very interested, and hopeful, that reyes will be a huge player in the playoffs, with his speed once he gets on base he is an instant threat to steal second and possibly third and he is also a definate 1st to 3rd guy on singles. most teams do not have a player with the speed of reyes and in the playoffs when every run in each game could mean your season i can not think of someone i would rather have on base than reyes in all of the MLB right now.

Slammed did you get post NLDS or NLCS //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif but hopefully I can get some world series tickets from the drawing...to bad trevor hoffman blew it for the NL home field advantage in the WS.. I would of love to have been at a game 6 or 7 mets v yankees at shea

and to add on the note of trevor hoffman blowing it for the NL...I do not agree with the team who wins the all-star game getting homefield for their league

there should be some reward but changing a huge factor in the world series, i havent kept up with the NL west but even if the padres make the playoffs, a team who is not expected to make the world series by most people should not have their player decide the fate of the leauge. Home field advantage is to valuable to possibly have a random player with the ability to decide who gains it.

MLB should go back to the best record in the regular season by the 2 teams who make the WS gaining home field, maybe create a payout for the winning team or something around those lines.

i agree this all-star shit is stupid, but hoffman is one of the best closers of all-time so it's not like a runt was on the field. i do disagree though with everyone getting representation IF the all-star game determines home field advantage.

dubrx:

NLDS for sure

my friend is trying to get tickets for the NLCS and WS as well

and...yes...Hoffman blew it!
