**The MLB Thread**

As much as Audiolife can be hard to read at times at least he is level headed unlike your retarded *** Teabag! You are nothing but a homer and will remain that way till the day you die. Least you stay true to them, then again I haven't been on here but a couple years. So who knows what you said when they were basement feeders. Where you being a homer back then as well? True fan like you say you are?

Anyway, they made a big trade and let go of a lot of people you were so high up on in Miller and Maybin. So I guess now you don't have to ride them and say how good they would have been. Now all we have to hear about is Cabrera and Willis. Just great!

Will say they better contend this year, cause now they have one of the better offensive 3rd baseman around. Thing is that he isn't anything special at 3rd base and they were thinking of moving him to first before all these trade talks. Now he is back at 3rd base depending on what they do after 2009.

Willis to me hasn't done much. He has been to up and down the last couple of years. So yeah he is a decent pitcher, but I wouldn't get to high on him just yet. He has a lot to prove especially pitching in the AL. Guy had a whooping ERA last year or the year before, I forget and gets hit around quite a bit. So you have an awesome offense if they can stay healthy, but your pitching in Verlander, Bonderman, Rogers and Willis isn't anything to write home about. Verlander is the only good pitcher in that group. I am sure you will say how Bonderman is still very good and they are better than CC who won the Cy young this year, lol! I am sure he would still be a #4 starter on thier rotation, LMAO!

Schilling is the same class as Cabrera? And the prospects being traded? A total of 8 players, 2 all-stars and 2 prospects ranked in the top 20 in baseball?
Schilling = first world series in 86 years? end result speaks louder than potential. is there a stat out there to discredit that fact?//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

do you play the games for stats or to win a championship? ?? detroit tigers getting to the world series and losing is better than a team winning it??? or maybe this trade is a little too early to call it the best trade in 5 years? im not saying it is bad, nor am i saying it is nothing to be excited about. common sense says since they have not even stepped onto the field to play a game for the tigers says it is a little early to predict that it automatically has paid off not to mention paid off greatly....

During his appearance on WFAN today, SI.com’s Jon Heyman said the Mets do seem confident in their efforts to trade for Twins LHP Johan Santana, though Heyman has no idea why, adding…

“Every thing I had heard in the proceeding weeks was that the Twins are not that enamored with the Mets prospect…I think it’s gonna be tough sleiding for them, but they’re confident. If you ask them if you ask them if they have a shot, they say they have a shot, or at least a decent shot. So, maybe they know something we don’t know.”

To listen to Heyman’s entire interview, during which he adds inisght in to more or less every rumor from the last few days, go to WFAN.com.

This morning in the Bergen Record, citing ‘one person familiar with the team’s financial picture,’ Bob Klapisch wrote that there is ‘no way’ the Mets will ever agree to pay $25 million per year to Santana.

“Not even the Red Sox seem eager to go that high,” writes Klapisch.

…i believe this is true…however, from what i can gather, and as Omar Minaya has alluded to on record in the past, most teams, including his Mets, are not as concerned about the money as they are about the super long-term contract, be it for santana or any other pitcher…if for no other reason than because it will cost a lot to insure that sort of contract for a pitcher, assuming it can get insured at all…

…nevertheless, as i understand it, tdespite what others have written, the Twins like Carlos Gomez and Kevin Mulvey a lot, as well as Mike Pelfrey, more so than any other team it seems…also, the Twins realize that they are not going to get the type of zero-to-three, major-league ready talent, from any team, that they initially hoped to acquire, which is why Jose Reyes is no longer being mentioned…plus, the Twins have no interest in paying reyes, despite his affordable contract….

…i keep getting the sense that if the Dodgers offer up OF Matt Kemp and RHP Chad Billingley or RHP Clayton Kershaw, along with another piece or two, the Twins would accept it…however, it is widely believed that santana wants to be in new york or boston, and so i can understand why some of these other teams, like the Dodgers, Mariners and Reds, who may have substantial talent to trade, are hesitant to acquire a guy who they will never re-sign…this is why the Dodgers appear to be more interested in Erik Bedard, as are other teams…

…in short, the way i see it, the Mets can acquire santana if a) the Twins committ to trading him, b) the Mets come to grips with offering a six– or seven-year deal, and c) they offer the Twins a package such as Carlos Gomez, Kevin Mulvey or Fernando Martinez, Mike Pelfrey and Aaron Heilman, who can be their next closer if Joe Nathan gets traded…

Well I waited for your idiotic post and got it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
Maybin and Miller are blue chip prospects, but don't forget Cabrera is only 24. I said numerous times I'd only trade Maybin for Cabrera. Cabrera is a top 5 hitter. You could only hope Maybin would put up the numbers Cabrera has put up in the past 4 seasons. The Tigers did not trade for a 30 year old entering the downside of his career. Cabrera is just now entering his prime, and actually has potential to get better.

Willis is a wild card. His ERA in 2006 was 3.87. Not bad, before that he was a Cy Young runner up and before that he posted a 4.02 and 3.33 ERA. I'm not going to say he is done at only 25. Bonderman had shown steady progress. His ERA had gone down every year in the league. Last year he started the season 10-0 and had an ERA of 3.50 and was runner up in the all-star vote in. He tried to pitch through an injury and got shelled. He should bounce back and have a decent season. Again he is only 25.

Trust me when I say this, there is nothing more idiotic than when you post. You will forever hold that title.

You talked and talked about how big Maybin was gonna be and how you were so excited last year for him to get called up being Monroe was a bum. Then he didn't do shit during the year, granted he is young and unproven really. Also same with Miller, you saying how good he was gonna be and he still might, but won't be in a Tigers uniform. Personally me I would almost rather have him over Willis. Willis is too up and down. He may do awesome for a while and then he will **** for just as long. The Cabrera trade was good, but he actually wanted to play 1st base, but money talks and now he should be on a contending team, so I guess that would speak volumes. Overall was a good trade for them IMO, but stats don't mean shit really unless you win the big one and I still don't see them winning it all with their pitching staff.

Will either be Boston, Cleveland or the Yanks again. Course the Indians might not do much either being they haven't done shit in the off season as of yet.

Cubs Willing To Pay $12-15MM Per Year For Fukudome?

UPDATE, 12-6-07 at 7:39pm: Sandy Alderson was on 1090 AM XX Sports Radio tonight. He said the Padres gave Fukudome one of the top two or three offers the team ever proposed. An answer from Fukudome is expected tonight or tomorrow.

FROM 12-6-07 at 2:23pm:

According to Tom Krasovic of the San Diego Union-Tribune, it "sounds like the Cubs might go as high as $12-15MM per year" for outfielder Kosuke Fukudome. He adds that Fukudome would have to be willing to take less money to play on the West Coast if he is to become a Padre. Many players have before, so don't go buying those Fukudome Cubs jerseys just yet.

Krasovic also has a note on Andruw Jones. Apparently the only other concrete offer outside of the Dodgers was a two-year, $22MM one from the Royals.

Astros Tejada Trade Not Close, But Possible

UPDATE, 12-6-07 at 5:01pm: MLB.com's Alyson Footer checks in with some detail. She notes that no deal is close but it is possible. Hunter Pence, J.R. Towles, and Felipe Paulino are considered off-limits.

UPDATE, 12-6-07 at 3:02pm: Still listening to 790...the message is now that the talks are in an "advanced stage" and they do not know the names involved. There's also a question of whether Tejada would waive his no-trade. Ken Rosenthal checks in - the teams have had significant discussions and may have been on the verge at some point. But nothing is imminent.

UPDATE, 12-6-07 at 1:33pm: ESPN's Jayson Stark says Andy MacPhail has left Nashville without a deal in place. But talks about Tejada and Brian Roberts are on the frontburner. Hopefully Jeff Zrebiec will weigh in soon...

FROM 12-6-07 at 12:39pm:

790 The Sports Animal, a Houston radio station, is reporting that the Astros are close to a deal to acquire Miguel Tejada. The reported package: Adam Everett, Chris Burke, and a pitcher. Heard them saying this myself by listening online; they're talking about it now.

The package sounds light, but maybe better if Troy Patton is the pitcher. More when I have it.
