**The MLB Thread**

Also since the Yankees collapsed in 04 against Boston, what Yankee has done well since in the playoffs? They lost to Anaheim in 05, and got pwnd in 06 and 07 by Detroit and Cleveland. Clearly that isn't A-rod's fault. I encourage New Yorkers to continue to drive him out of New York.

It's been a known fact for awhile now how bad Rodriguez has been in the playoffs. Hell would be 99.9% the reason the Yankees wouldn't keep him. He sucks in the playoffs period. You don't hear Jeter getting heat in the playoffs. Also I don't know how almost 30 points isn't much of a difference, lol! By all means take Rodriguez and his huggggge contract! Won't mean shit being he sucks in the playoffs. I would say the same thing if the Indians were looking into him, which I hope they are not. Overpaid, overrated........overkill!

Will say he puts a lot of runs on the board, but if you can't advance in the playoffs then what is the point to hold on to such a big contract? I mean I know there is more to a team than one player, but he is a star in this league and will be a sure hall of famer and about the only guy that might have a chance a breaking Barry Bonds home run record. The guy needs to show up come playoff time, other wise he is just eating up monies!

That's the whole point, why is A-rod taking the heat and not Jeter? What did Jeter do in the playoffs this year? What did he do against Detroit last year? Yes Jeter has a better BA, but A-rod has drawn more walks and has hit for more power the Jeter in the playoffs. A-rod had very good post season numbers in Seattle. The whole Yankee team has sucked since they collapsed in 04. In 05, 06, and 07 the Yankees lost in the first round, and the only one they weren't pwnd in was in 05. A-rod did have a good start to the 04 post season. Also A-rod is opting out of the contract, the Yankees aren't getting rid of him, it's a player option, and the Yankees have shown an interest in retaining him, it's whether he wants to stay in New York.

Yeah you are right , he is opting out. I thought it was the other way around, still no loss for the Yankees. Why would you want to keep someone who is your star player and don't do well? He is no longer in Seattle and just because he did ok one year in the playoffs don't justify all the shitty post season he has endured. I say if someone is going to pay you that much money, you better try your ****dest (made up word FTW!) when it comes crunch time. I guess he is opting out because of the mayhem with Torre being let go and Mariano Rivera? Then I think Posada is leaving as well. I mean NY is gonna have to rebuild if they lose all these players.

As far as Jeter goes, he has done decent. He has batted .309 in the playoff. Is not like he is the run producing power hitter like Alex is. You can't even really compare the two players as they are so different. Your talking about a power hitter to a contact hitter. Jeter gets on base, is people like Rodriguez that is supposed to knock them in. When you don't, then you are not doing your job.

With all that said, Detriot would have to pay him big money! I would rather spend it somewhere else. Get a good pitcher! Hell Brandon Inge might **** at the plate, but isn't he good with the glove?

Don't even know what their mascot looks like, lol!

Without A-rod New York isn't even in the playoffs. Detroit has plenty of pitching depth, and what the hell does Brandon Inge have to do with anything?

x2 a-rod is going to limit himself on playing on teams like barry bonds did in san fran for the most part. 1 great player isnt worth 3 or 4 real solid ones especially if the can be had for less

Come on now, I am sure NY could have made a run without him. Posada, Cano, Jeter, Damon, Milky and Abreu. Their pitching sucks, but Pettitte, Wang were strong.

Is Inge not your third baseman? Is Alex not a third baseman? Your SS is Gullien correct? So that means Inge would be moved. I don't know how you couldn't have grasped that. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif
