Stern staying with Sox ... for now

Aug 5 - According to a report in the Boston Globe, outfielder Adam Stern or infielder Alejandro Machado is the player to be named in the trade that sent Javy Lopez from the Orioles to the Red Sox.

But Stern or Machado reportedly won't be joining the Orioles anytime soon because once both players are placed on waivers they will be claimed by the Devil Rays.

And once the players are claimed by Tampa Bay, the Red Sox will pull them off waivers, forcing Boston to keep the players until the end of the season.

The Globe reports the Devil Rays are incensed at the Red Sox for what Tampa Bay officials are convinced was illegal contact between Boston and the agent for infielder Julio Lugo, Dan Lozano, prior to the trading deadline, and before the Devil Rays traded Lugo to the Dodgers.

I'll give my best answer if you don't mind.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif Chris Shelton's confidence is shot to hell. He was second on the team in strikeouts. Sure, he was producing a little but no where near what he is capable of. He had all those homers in April and only 6 homers since then. Casey is a veteran and plays a better defensive 1st base then Shelton. Shelton will most definitely be back. Leyland made it very clear when he sent him down that Shelton is the future everyday 1st baseman of the Tigers. He just needs to work on a few things down in Toledo. When they expand their roster to a playoff roster he may come back up then, who knows.
Just last night Casey paid dividends with a 2 run double to right center. It started the big comeback to beat the Indians last night.

Ok ok gotcha. Just when I was comparing stats, I was like scratching my head why they would send him down. Thanks for replying to that.

Oh and man do the Indians **** this year. Still biggest dissapointment of the year. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif Also they 4th in runs will quickly be passed by other teams with them getting rid of Belliard and Broussard. I hate my favorite team. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

Alot of people were wondering the same thing as you but ANY trade can look good at first and end up looking bad by season's end and vice versa. A good percentage of trades are a gamble but you can say the same thing about free agent pickups. Remember when the Tigers spent a bunch of money on Fernando Vina when they acquired him from St. Louis a few years back. He looked like he was going to be good and then he got hurt and we haven't seen him since.

As far as the Indians are concerned: Their starting pitching has been decent if you ask me. Problem is when you get to the bullpen they're really struggling. Believe me they will really be focusing on that in the off season. Also, I don't understand the Belliard trade either. He was giving the Tigers fits last time they played them.

Suprised nobody mentioned it, but Verlander isn't pitching today....arm fatigue being the reason he will skip a start. What did I tell you all? Good thing for Tiger fans is it will give him enough rest to prevent him from possibly injuring his arm. I'm sure the pitching coach had seen something during the last game or during the past few days in practice that led him to that decision. Verlander may have either been picking up a bad habit or perhaps altered his mechanics slightly. Or it could very well be that his arm was a little more sore than usual.

Nope, none of the above. He actually told his pitching coach his arm was a little sore and Leyland made the call to skip a start since this is the most innings he's ever thrown in one year. Leyland has always been known to protect his younger arms and Verlander is NO exception to this rule. It doesn't mean he is going down hill like I'm sure you're hoping for. Liriano is going to miss a start as well so does that mean he is going down hill too.?? Sorry to burst your bubble but Verlander is fine.

Did I not say the same thing?

Did I not say the same thing?
Yes, you pretty much did. But you've shown that you're a hater of the Tigers just as much if not more than you are a fan of the Sox so don't bother acting like you aren't happy he has to miss a start.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
