The infamous W7

If you read my post, I gave alot of reasons... A w7 soundin g30 times better than an L7? This tells me you know very little about what you're talking about. Again, in sub-bass frequencies, distortion is VERY hard to hear, especially in a car, comparing subwoofers' inherant SQ differences is extremely stupid. If a w7 sounds 30 times better than an L7, there is a MAJOR install error. Put any *decent* sub in the hands of a good installer, he will make it sound just as good as a W7. Oh, btw, there have been SQ champions using L7s. This is assuming we are making it a pure SQ system, which you guys seem to be arguing about. I never said the W7 wasnt an SQL sub, that is EXACTLY what I AM saying, I'm saying its not an SQ sub //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
Obviously you know nothing and haven't learned anything people have been saying here. Don't stomp on my install because it's probably better then any box you have ever built! It was just perfect and it sounds amazing. but if I throw two w7's in there they are going to sound a hella of a lot better. And your saying people have won with kicker l7's as a SQ setup and W7's have won with SPL setups. So now your contradicting yourself saying the the w7 wasn't made for SQ. But everyone knows a L7 was made strictly for SPL. So why would someone use it in a SQ setup. I came and posted this for true information about the W7 not to hear tons of lies. Squek has been more then helpful with all this information cause now I know tons of information on the W7 and am going to be very plessed with my setup...

STOP POSTING ON MY THREAD FOOL!

Chubby, good job acting like a child on the internet //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eek.gif.771b7a90cf45cabdc554ff1121c21c4a.gifYou completely missed my point, I will not state it again, feel free to go read it again with a parent, or dont, I honestly really dont care. You have alot to learn my young friend and with experience, and maturity, I trust you will be a wealth of information.
And just so you know your only 18, it's not like you some grown adult so you might as well give that argument up because your being just as childish by not understanding what someone else has to say. It's not like you've been in the business for 10 years comparing to some of the people on this forum. I at least know when I don't know something. But whatever man Since your all grown up and know everything about cars!

Maybe you should look up the word contradict...

I never said the W7 wasnt made to have nice SQ. I said it wasnt an all out SQ driver, of course thats just my opinion and we are walking a fine line here. Why would somebody use an L7 in an SQ setup? Well, this is exactly the point I'm making. Just because an L7 is known to be only an SPL driver be many, that must mean it sucks at SQ right? Wrong. At SQ volumes in the correct install, even the best ears cant hear the difference between it and a high end SQ woofer, hence it has won SQ comps.

Also, maturity has little to do with age, obviously, but I guess that needed to be said.

of course any sub can be used in an SQ comp, simply because the presentation has very little to do with sub-bass at all. however, true SQ, when measured by another median than the human ear, is clearly not subjective, and when you put the l7 and the w7 through such a comparison via computer analysis etc, it is easily seen that the w7 is superior in SQ

Sure, I wont argue that the W7 is a better all around driver than the L7. But at SQ levels, the difference in sound in the right installs is nominal. Could a computer measure the differences? Sure, but thats alot like measuring the THD of an amp. Its nice to know amp A has .002 less distortion than amp B, but that will never be audible and is unimportant.

So your saying stepping up to a W7's won't be that much of a difference between my L7's?
I mean honestly, how could they even be compared?
I think he is trying to say that at low volumes there won't be much of a difference, which is also wrong IMO

I never said the W7 was everyone's personal favorite....no sub is, and no sub will ever be. Everyone has different tastes, etc. That and there is no guaranty you ever actually heard properly tuned and setup W7.
But, that doesn't mean you can talk ignorantly about it by saying that the W7 is not an SQ sub. That is in fact what it is; it's a simple fact that the W7 is one of the lowest distortion subs on the market.

Does that mean everyone will like it? Ofcourse not. Does that mean everyone should buy it?? Ofcourse not. Does that mean it's the perfect sub for every car and every situation?? Ofcourse not. And I never implied any of it.
so i guess doug potter doesn't know what he's doing right? he is probally number 2 or 3 on hifi buys top installers. those subs have tubby sound-what part of that do y'all not understand. if you had two drum sets in the same room one had pillow stuffing in the kick-drums and the other didnt you would hear a huge sound difference between the two. thats what i hear when i compare the w6 vs w7 or w7 vs mtx 9500. to me the w7 doesn't sound natural for the type of music i play and listen to- trust me guys i have the money and i dont mind paying for what sounds good, i wanted these w7's bad and they disappointed me big time

Well, don't know him personally....but just because you can install, doesn't mean you can properly tune.

The part where that's simply your opinion //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif

i really like you squeak and i dont want to bash you but doug is the man!!!! he competes and they(hifi) send him to vegas and everywhere else when it comes to system design and tuning. he tuned a system in a gti with stock speakers and one xtant 10(sealed in the hatch), and a alpine sound processor- that car sounds like it's got some brax components in there. makes me wonder why people buy these high dollar component systems. thats one thing he can do better than anything is tune

Hehe....I wasn't bashing him, just saying I was previously unaware of the guys ability, and that not everyone who can install good can also tune good //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif But, sounds like Mr. Douglas really knows what he is doing. So, nothing left to say other than the W7 is definitely not for you //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif And I'm sure you aren't alone in that respect.

if it was setup w/brax amps he might now be using that alpine sound processor //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

eh, whatever, if i offended anyone in this post, i apologize

i mean ****, i drive a honda element, you can only take me so seriously //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

boy i really wanted those w7's too!!!!!!! i was gonna get 2 w712's powered by two xtant 1000/1-good thing i went to listen to them. thats why everybody should make the exta effort to go listen to the speakers instead of listening to dumbass's such as myself and squeak
