the Goliath let out the magic smoke :(

I'm just wondering how many more times this has to happen before the manufacturer stands up and takes ownership for an obvious defect in this line of amplifier??? This is at least the 6th or 7th time I have seen a XX-Goliath cook itself at little or no volume. Maxxsonics needs to seriously take a closer look at this $1900 paperweight.
I apologize if any Maxxsonics personnel read this, but this problem has occurred one too many times and to multiple people.
well man, im goign in your footsteps now //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

im trying to find 2 kickers or 2 orions 2500s/d5000s, somthing along there

i found 2 ma hk 4000s, but i dont know anything about them too much

From what Ive heard HK400Ds are decent amps for the price and are pretty common for people who compete.

Two 4000ds would be sick on 2 BTL 18s. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eek.gif.771b7a90cf45cabdc554ff1121c21c4a.gif

Bama.

Depending on your electrical system The 20.1s would be fine at .35 ohms daily.

I actually ran mine at .35 ohms strapped so .175 per, daily for a few days, with no problems. I wouldn't recommend just anyone attempting it though. Not only will running them at .175 ohms possibly shorten the life of the amp, you might damage something. When I did that...I had a very substantial electrical system backing both of them up.

stay away from the HK's unless you want the same thing to happen....im guessing you had a low voltage instance at some point in that amp's life and the power supply FET's finally just failed.

still sucks. Ive done this to TWO z1's before //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif ... but thats another thread.

Those were my thoughts as well...Just because the amp failed at low volume doesn't mean it was a total amp defect.

With your electrical system the way it is currently, I wouldnt be surprised if low voltage gaged the amp a few times, and then just staying on was a task for the amp, and finally it just failed.

how are vfl 400.1s?

well i paid half down for an alt from iraggi, i just did get the other half the other day...//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif
