Ok so i was wondering if anyone has any personal experience buying new, not refurbished, car audio from ebay. Would anyone recommend it or advise against it? Just curious because they have some insanely low prices, but i figure there is a reason for that. Thanks

I bought my sub, amp, and wiring on ebay. Look for ratings of 99.X and you should be ok. Also look for things such as square trade verified sellers. Ebay can save you a ton of money of retail. Look at Stereo 2 Go and KnuKonceptz wiring. Good Sellers who provided tracking numbers and shipped fast.

I've only ever purchased used/NOS items that are no longer in production. Never bought an item from ebay that I could get locally, authorized with warranty.

Reason for the low prices is 1) Most items are not eligable for manufacturer warranty, 2) you never know what you are getting....item listed as "new" could be a return, refurb or B-stock item, and 3) always run the risk of being ripped off by the seller (Indoaudio and TheZeb are a prime examples), and 4) having to wait for shipping times, no free hands-on support if you are having problems (like you could get from a local shop), etc etc..

If you are any good at negotiation, you can get gear at your local shop for close to ebay prices. Atleast close enough for me.....I don't have a problem paying an extra $75 for a full manufacturer warranty and in-person, hands on support if I need it.

Me neither... The only thing I would consider purchasing on ebay, would be Sound Deadening, Wiring, and possibly a set of Koda Crossovers from the Adire Audio Outlet...

I bought a few things off of Competition Soundworks, but I will not go that route again.. I would rather have a warranty that I can fall back on, if something does indeed go wrong... and it is always nice to have some one to ***** at if things do go wrong...

Other than my HU's all my stuff is Ebay........

I avoid HU's on ebay cause they always are sure to fugup

same story here... if i can't get it locally or (or cheaper from an online store) i look for it on ebay. best rule is to know, really KNOW, back-to-front/inside=out what you're bidding on. surprises are often unwelcome in ebay transactions...
