Thanks for the JL recommendations!

I just purchased a pair of 10" JL Audio 10W6v2's for a great price from a pawn shop. ($225 out the door in a sealed enclosure). I had alot of questions for this forum prior to that purchase on various subs. It sounded like I couldnt go wrong with either IDQ's or the JL's. The JL's fell in my lap and I'm a happy camper.

I'm underpowering them quite a bit by only providing 300 watts rms to the pair...but they still sound great. With more power will they punch harder? Just be louder?

300W to the pair?

Yes, they'll get much louder with more power.

YEah, 300W to the pair I'm afraid. Theyr'e currently at 4 ohms and my amp only puts out 300w at 4 ohms. The speakers are dvc @ 4 ohms. Since amp isnt 1 ohm stable I have to keep the pair at 4 ohms.

I dont really need them louder as they are pretty loud right now. Just wondering if they'd hit a bit harder with more power.

they should be able to handle 400 watts each with no problem.

But yea glad you got those subs. And yes those things need a bit more power.

Well, I'll have to keep my eyes out for an amp that comes up that would drive them good. I need to decide however if I need that or some better components in the fronts. I've got Infinity Reference 5 1/4s and they are hurting my ears a bit. Tweets are right at ear level just about by my mirrors. Can be a bit painful.

Nice deal on those subs. I would have jumped at that. I would get a jl audio 1000/1 to power those. But that = mad money!
