THE WHOLE THING!!!
Well now we are just getting down to definitions. You need to define "brainwash". The nature of the human mind is that we learn from someone or something else....an external source. If you grow up in a house where the family practices any religion and involves their children in it, they are being "brainwashed". The same can be said for political views, racial opinions, etc. Every person can change their mind later down the road if they please, including children born into polygamist groups.
I consider brainwashing to be something that takes away a person's free will. Sure most of those women were there by choice, but the children aren't given a choice to be there or not. Then again, children usually don't have a choice over those things anyways.
I had to go to church as a child, but eventually I was allowed to not go because I didn't want to anymore. I felt that church was a waste of time. If I wanted to be religious, I could do it whenever and wherever I wanted to.
If the children have the ability to leave later on down the road when they are able to, then there really isn't anything wrong with that I guess.
