Test Tones question.

Alrighty, I've started compressing all the test tones from JMACs thread into MP3 using the newest LAME with the highest variable bitrate encoding options. To me these sound identical. I havent had a chance to test them with a volt meter, but i cant see why it would make a difference seeing as most of the removed information is unused frequency information. Is there a reason that they weren't in this format to begin with? Is something lost thats important? If not, where can i upload these for everyonee? The -10dB set (unzipped) went from 734mb to 31.2mb, compressed to RAR its 23mb. This would REALLY cut down on download times. I have -10 and 0 done, im downloading -6 now.

nah....

if ur downloadin these to tune ur system...why use a -10dB tone? thats not really a good idea......iirc -3dB is good to use tones since tones are just slightly more powerful/louder/stonger/whatever than MUSIC....

Im doing all of them. -10 -6 -3 and 0 im just compressing them with lame. The are essentially the same just will take about 20x less time to download, and you can fit all of them on a cd.

Alrighty well they are all done. If anybody wants them let me know. Seems like it would be alot better than 3 hour downloads.
