BOOOM
Well I got a little bit bored today and my buddy with an SX15 was over here so we decided to do a little test session between a single hAvoc 15 and a single SX15. The test is 100% completely subjective. It was a test to see which driver we thought was better suited for a daily sub. Each sub was powered by an Autotek MX3000.1 at 1 ohm, which sould do close to 4000 watts. The gains were set to 1500 watts to start things out. The box was 4.5 cuft. tuned to 34hz and it was in my 2002 Explorer. We listened to the SX first and messed around with the gains and what not. It ended up getting around 1800-2000 watts before it started moving too much.
The sound was smooth and sounded great around the peak, however the extension up high wasn't too great and "punchy" bass wasn't either. It still sounded good and got hella loud for a single 15". Now on to the hAvoc. At the same level as the SX the hAvoc was audibly MUCH louder it peaked lower, dropped lower, and had better high end extension. The "punches" were also a lot better. So we turned the gains up and ended up giving it close to 3000 watts. It handled the power pretty well too, although I would never reccomend running 3000 watts on a hAvoc. So all in all we were both completely satisfied with what the SX was doing, but we both agreed that the hAvoc kicked the **** out of the SX period. It is a far better driver for daily installs , but not to take away from the SX which is also a very solid driver.
