my future set up for my car... Head unit is looking to be either pioneer 8500 or 7500 (need opinions on if the upgrade is worth it)

Subs are 2 jlw6v2 10"s

Amps are going to be 2 Kenwood 1000 watt KAC-8101D

1 4 channel amp kenwood KAC-8401 ...

all going to be sitting on a nice amp rack...i know its all kenwood but you would be surprised. i got all the amps new and with warrenty for 4 years for 350$ish so how could i pass it up...

speakers r going to be

fronts JBL GTO606 serious component

rears are going to be kenwood KFC-XR601 kenwoods..

going to be running 2 digital caps.. subs will be in a custom q-logic box.

Dont need caps, dot need kenwood amps.

nothing wrong with Kenwood amps. I agree with the others though. Q logic boxes are the devil //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif I would also say wait on the caps. No need to spend money on something you don't need. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

You could do better dollar per watts/proformance besides the Kenwood. As for comps, JBL are good, but again there is better out there for the same price, give us what you want, (spl/sq, amps, speakers, subs...etc) and your budget.

ok it better not be a bandpass q logic. i say build urself a nice box. its cheaper and it will sound alot alot i mean alot better. did i say alot cheaper i mean real cheaper. lose the caps and use the money to get ur alt rewound alittle. u might not understand but that is what u need to do. everything looks good to me. kenwood has some decent stuff.

well i want a little sq but more spl...loud boom ...

keepin both my subs 2 10w6v2s...i got 1 6500D mtx amp that i am selling for 120$

my budget for a set of component speakers is around 225-250$

the jbls i would be getting for 189.99...

the box is actually going to be given to me for 140$ for the custom firebird...if that is a bad deal, i know a guy that can build me a custom box for around 400$ i **** at building boxes

a custom box for $400? Hmmm, I dont' think that's reasonable at ALL. If you want to use that prefab box, then at LEAST put more silisone on the seams, some people have complained of a leaky box.

COntact mgaidica for wild looking boxes, he's a pro at it.

Someone mentioned better dollar/watt performance out there than kenwood, but I'm not so sure - Kenwood's pretty competitive on the value line. Their amps are never overrated at all, but they're not underrated either - what you see is what you get (as long as you ignore those stupid "MAX" numbers printed on the amp - I'm just talking RMS numbers). And the 8101d he's pointing out does 500w into 1 ohm, class D - and you can get it for under $150 new in box on ebay; $180 from a dealer online, $200 local. So, you're looking at $0.30/watt on ebay, $0.40/watt local. That's pretty well up there on the value scale. I agree that there are better amps, and I agree that there are cheaper amps, but I don't agree that there are better values out there in that wattage range. At least, not many.

Really? Odd... I don't mean to dispute your numbers, I believe you - Perhaps they've improved the design more than you're aware of since then? I'm not at all familiar with the one you measured, so I can't say for certain; I'm just suggesting a possible explaination. My own experience differs. I'm getting just under 460 on my 7201 (I'm using a 60hz sine wave, o-scope to verify max no-clipping output, and AC voltage (peak) is at 60.8v - Figuring RMS off of this ( * .707) it comes up with a voltage of 42.986v. This is a 4 ohm load, so doing the math brings the current (42.986/4) to 10.747 Amps. 42.986v * 10.747 amps is 461.97 watts. That might be a touch high since both the amperage and wattage rounded up, but since I pulled 3 decimal places, it won't be WAY too far off. Of course, I have no way to measure THD in this application, but there's no *audible* distortion.

Anyway, just submitting my experience. Lotsa companies underrate quite a bit, and that's cool, and lotsa companies overrate, and that sucks... I'm just saying seldom have I seen a company whose ratings are so close to real - as far as I can measure, that is, which isn't perfect, but isn't all THAT far off, either.

Or I could have gotten the "high" end of the bell curve ... I mean, there's going to be *some* variance just due to the component tolerances and such... So maybe mine's not typical?

still, I wouldn't think there would be 50 watts worth of difference, so surely they've changed a little bit since then.

One thing to note, though, is that Kenwood *does* rate at 14.4, and 12v output is noticeably lower.

Still, I like 'em; I paid $120 for this new in box on ebay and my 12k's sound *incredible*! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
