Hello all,
I haven't been around in a while, but some of you from a while back may recognize me (check my photo gallery). Now that you can't rightly post something like, "Who is this new guy?", the purpose of this thread:

I have a few friends who are fans of Tech N9ne (rap artist with hits Absolute Power, I'm a Playa, etc.). Most of them have seen him in concert and about half the people say he is real good in concert, and the other half say he's pretty weird in concert and enjoy his recorded music.

I have personally given some effort to listening to Tech N9ne, mostly listening to his album Absolute Power. My only lack of a frame of reference is that I haven't personally seen him in concert before.

My opinion is that he is a pretty terrible artist. His lyrics are largely meaningless and sometimes reflect on him as a terrible person ("GHB, I love you very much" comes to mind). I think some of his beats are decent, but nothing on that album has a really good beat. I also think the only possible substance or message behind his lyrics may appear to be some kind of political revolutionary type view that he tries to take (i.e. The Industry is Punks, Slacker, and Absolute Power). He really has nothing to say on this, though, so this topic in his lyrics only gives him mild shock value and probably provides a hook for teenage kids who are new to rap.

Anyways, now that you have taken the time to read my long post, do you have an opinion on Tech N9ne? If you are a big fan and think I am 100% wrong, then please say so and let me know why you think he is a good artist. My whole point of this post is just to see if maybe there is something about him that I am missing.

Doesn't produce enough songs to get super popular. Actually there are some studies that show GHB can be beneficial to your health. Low dosages ofcourse.

He has some pretty crazy beats, and his rhymes aren't like everybody elses. I saw him in concert couple of months back, probably the most fun i've had in a long time. He was awesome.

I saw him on the Wicked Wonka tour with KMK, Bone, and ICP. I went to see ICP, and had only heard "Im A Playa" before seeing him in concert. I liked his set better than Bone's and KMK's, he is a lot different than most rap artists. Like he says in "The Industry is Punks" on the Absolute Power Album, "How many Tupac's, Master P's, and Jay Z's can we conceive?" He is also a great lyricist and he can spit rhymes extremely fast. Great live show, and great to listen to his recorded music.

Good god that's a lot for doj. I've never paid more than 50 for an eighth and I got screwed on that deal. The best eighths I've ever bought were 40 back home in P-town (Portland) where those who know what's up grow their own and share with a few buddies.

i can get an eighth for $40 down here in southern oregon. ****, i just love oregon bud.

Yep, but not down here at CalPoly. College is expensive and so is gas, thus a 1000 mile drive down here just to drive a gas-guzzling explorer doesn't seem smart, especially when I saw a Chevron the other day that is charging 2.49 for unleaded.

I'm goin back up to portland in two days though, so I am gonna keep my little (well, big) driver nice and warm.

What do you have in your car now? You guys always change your goodies entirely too often for me to keep up.
