TC 4HP vs. RE MT

I've got an RE MT 18 currently.

I've searched but wasn't able to find any direct comparisons between these 2 monsters...

I wouldn't swap my MT for a 4HP just yet...just curious if anyone has heard both, done any comparos, etc...

Thanks!

The 18" 4hp was louder in my testing, but lets make some clarity of exactly what is what.

There are all sorts of 4hp versions, just because someone says they have a 4hp doesnt exactly mean it has the same parts as everyone else's 4hp. Some 4hp's like big boxes, some like small - its entirely dependant on how its assembled. This is mainly because of the ability of the top plate to come unscrewed and replaced with newer parts so easily. You just cant do that with an MT.

Now there ARE some things out of both subs id like to see incorporated into each other, which would make a even better sub....the minute I find something like that, i'll post it :p

IMO all compairson tests done by everyone are inheritly flawed in some way, its always up to you the consumer to figure out whats more important to you.

Dang, you've owned both? Crazy...

Is a good bit like 2-3 db? Was it because the 4HP was more efficient, could handle more power, peaked better in your box...?

Thanks for sharing!

Well, its been a while since I messed with both of them at the same time and had a meter present, but if memory serves me half right I believe it was only by 1.2-3 dbs....I mean nothing like mind boggling high or something you couldnt of compansated for somewhere else in the setup. The area where the 4hp DID excel in was that it was partial to small ported enclosures. Which in my case was rather important since in Street classes you have to keep your box below the back window line. Truth is, if that rule wasnt the way it was, and I was able to make a larger box, I might have been using a MT all this time. Its just about working out what best works for you and going with it. Both are very capable subs.
