TC 1k 8": quite surprising

I had a TC- 1k 8" svc 4 ohm sitting in my room for a loooong time and i finally got around to building a box for it [ported, 1.5 cubes @ 25hz] designed by myself.

This is practically the first 8" I've ever used with sub frequencies. The output on this sub shocked me. I had no problem keeping up with my horns and 8" midbass/ranges. I could be that I don't have my fronts set too high.

for an 8" sub, it gets quite low w/ no problem. Since it was late when i finally finished the box, i didn't review it as much as I wanted. Tomorrow i will see how it keeps up w/ the fast double kicks.

it's such a sexy lil b*tch

powered off a soundstream vga 1600.2, seeing ~400watts @ 4 ohms from one channel.

at first i was planning on donating this box/sub to my uncle for his theater room, but now i getting second thoughts. I wonder if he has the wattage for it.

what size/tuning is that box? i need to start gathering ideas on what to build the box to.

I was wondering why so low of tuning... home theatre explains it.

Amazingly low tuning, very large box... yes Id expect alot of low-end output from it. But really, a horn front stage should drown it out pretty easily. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

I have the sub Lowpassed at 50hz, since the idq8s take over from there, so i can't tell you how well they do up above. The reason why i chose the low tuning was practically because that's what TC recommends on their site and because I like low frequencies:) this combo will most likely end up in a theater setup.

after a little tuning, i almost got it be leveled w/ the front stage, but it's just a little behind. I can imaging it would be very nice with two of these 8"s ported.

and sorry, i'm not fortunate enough to have a meter to throw up some numbers.

Thanks for the review/pics.
