Listen to mostly metal and some rap/hip-hop, but I'm pretty much just a white boy.
Main music - Metallica (all of it), System of a Down, Offspring, Pantera, PyschoStick, old Anthrax, Static-X and a lot of Slipknot. I also listen to some old rap, and even some crap (eminem).
I've decided I really WANT AQ stuff, specifically the 1200d and the SDC12. (just 1, leaving room to grow down the road, though)
But this is also my first time buying stuff that isn't on Best Buy's 2-for-1 sale.
I keep running into conflicting info. I tend to use sealed boxes. Seems like these don't like sealed boxes? I can fit up to a 3cu.ft. box no problem. I'd be willing to try a ported box, if you think I can get what I need out of one. I've just never built a ported box, and there's that whole scared of change thing.
My other system currently is in a 03 Explorer, OLD cerwin-vega HED DVC12 in a 1.0ft sealed box, running an old RF 400.4 amp (pre- bass boost knob!) bridged 2ch to each vc at 4ohm each. Now, it sounds great to me, which isn't saying much.. The freakin sub is held together mostly with contact cement as it slowly unglues itself after 8 years of service or so.. Now this system does what i want, sounds good to me, but just doesn't play loud enough.
MY car i a 97 tbird, and the box will be in the trunk. I'm going to steal my wife's 400.4 to run the main speakers (infinity 6x8s) which are currently running off a failing POS amp, and a Pioneer deck, with aspirations of a carputer.
Sorry about being long-winded. Been reading the crap out of this forum and it just left me more confused than before.
