I am new to car audio, but I have been doing much research over the passed month. I read many reviews and researched online about car audio equipment to find the best budget friendly system I could get.

From my research, I have (or have ordered) the following components for my 2008 wrx sti.

HU: Pioneer F900bt

AMP: Alpine PDX-5

Front: Phoenix Gold RSD65 Components

Rear: Phoenix Gold RSD65 Coaxials

SUBS: 2 Phoenix Gold RSD 10d Subs in a Sealed Powerwedge box.

I went with full phoenix gold speakers because the name seems to pop up everytime "budget" is said. Plus, they are very cheap and my budget was around 1500 total (total of all the aforementioned components was 1455$). I further heard the speakers at a shop in Simi Valley next to the alpine/JL/Diamonds, and they were comparable (not better but very acceptable / the JL xr's were my fav but they were going for 280 for component set).

My goal for the system is to be very clear sounding with plenty of punch (but not to attract too much attention).

I am going to get them professionally installed (my car is brand new and I dont trust myself). I seriously hope this stuff fits, I've heard the new subarus need shallow speakers.

I figure the installation cost will be massive lol.

How do you think this will turn out??

OH, and will the pdx5 run 2 subs?

Feedback is appreciated

I am new as well and everyone on here said go with 2 component speakers and forget about the back ones since it sounds cleaner without.

Might save you some money on the amp as well, which will give you some cash that you can put into getting your car matted down to get rid of vibrations. That is definitely something you want to invest in.

I was able to get my two subs and the amp with 4 gauge wire for around 150 total. I then got my friend to tune the sub and set up that amp himself.

I'm getting a car audio studio to install my speakers and amp and they are charging about 250 for all the work including custom tweeter mounts and laying out my RAAMMat to get rid of vibrations. I used a $25 splitter thing to use the same 4 gauge wire from before so I didn't need to buy another $75 kit.
