Synthetic oil

I normally just get my oil changed at jiffylube with regular oil every 3k miles. I was planning on just doing my own changes, never really felt comfortable letting those guys mess with my car.

I wanted to try synthetic oil but someone said once you switch to synthetic it's bad for the engine to switch back to regular. Is this true?

How often do you change oil with synthetic, is it the same as regular? I was planning on using royal purple.

My 14 year old car had regular oil in it all its life and about 2 years ago I switched to synthetic. Ive had no problems at all.

But to answer your question, oil is oil to your engine. You can change back and fourth .

once you go to synthetic don't switch back to regular oil it can fck up your car if it's an older car. cause what it is your engine get's used to the sythetic oil and then after u go to put normal in its thinking its normal and will either run kinda wierd doesn't happen with all cars all depends on mileage and year of the car really:).

I switched from regular to synthetic at 2,000 miles, along with a bunch of guys on my other forum. Mobile 1 synthetic is the way to go.
but so much monies //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif . Used it once, then had to goto another synthetic oil cuse i couldnt afford it. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif . My dad uses it on the SL600 and S55 he owns.

engines dont think man.
there's been a lot of oil leak ever since i switch to synthetic but it doesnt bother me much.
That why they say not to switch to syntetics on many higher mileage cars. When heated it has less viscocity that dino oil, and thats why you have more leaks. On most cars synthetc is overkill, unless you are in really hot climate or have high horepower, or torque for towing, its not really necessary. A conventional oil or syn. blend is more than enough for 90% of cars. Its more in the quality of the oil filter, and frequency of changes. Dont use FRAM filters.

Ya I've been using synthetic blend. Thats what im thinking of. With K&N Oil filters. Change my oil and filter every 3k //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif I use the castrol stuff now, forgot what it was called.
