on my Q the surrounds coming up a little bit around the screwholes and is allowing air to leak when in the sealed box. I fixed it before by putting silicone over the screws but it made it a ***** to get out. Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this.

Gasket sealer? It should form more of a gasket than a glue. It usually is fairly easy to peel up and keep in tact for future use, but that is depending on the surface it is applied to.

Auto parts store. My biggest fear would be the fumes damaging the woofer's surround, if it is foam. I'm not sure if it would or not.

That sounds about best for your options if you are looking for something that will easily disassemble. It is made for parts that are often removed for servicing.

My advice would be to take olive oil or something non-sticky, and layer the surface to be sealed with it. Then, plop on a bunch of this stuff, and tighten your equipment most of the way, but not all the way. Let everything cure up, remove the equipment, clean the surface and the new gasket of all oils, and then tighten everything up and play it hard, to make sure seal worked.

Maybe post up a pic of what is wrong exactly? I'll check this thread at 9:30 after work, as my work has all pictures firewalled //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

Autoparts stores have stuff called "Black Goop"

I had some re8's that had the surround lifting and RE told me to use that stuff. It did the trick.

Keep in mind though mine was a 40 dollar speaker....yours is much more with a warranty, might want to contact FI.

Oh yea, and a quick search leads me to believe that autoparts stores aren't going to carry it, I would try a ATV/motorcycle dealer and repair shop, and see if they can order it. Last option is order it offline. Should only be roughly 6$ a tube.

Like above stated, try warranty or maybe ask one of their techs about what to use. I didn't know the value of your speaker. Oh ya, and if you used silicone, (blue stuff?) I doubt damage would be done to the woofer.

i talked to scott a while back and he said he could send me a recone but i dont see the point of doing that if the current coils are still in pristine condition. Mabe i could just ask for some ca glue from him to resecure the surround

I'm sure this doesn't matter anymore, but I just realized the whole time I misunderstood the OP. You don't want that gasket maker haha. Sorry.
