Sup Peeps,

I'm 38 years old and have been out of the Audio game for FAR to long.  Near the end of July, I was installing some new speakers in my daughter's car because hers had deteriorated.  She was happy with the $30 to $40 new 6.5 4-ways, but it made me realize how much I missed doing car audio stuff.  I thought back to the last time I even built a nice subwoofer enclosure and it has been 21 years.  It was by far the largest enclosure I've ever built.  Me and a friend of mine's older brother built an enclosure that took up the entire back seat of his extended cab GMC Sonoma.  It had 2 Pioneer IMPP 12's and an old school Orion amp.  Even with the factory radio and a line converter that thing was sick.  The last aftermarket radio that I had was stolen our of my car while I was at work, not even 5 months after I had it installed.  That was 11 years ago.  It was stolen on 4/20, only remember that because I hoped he got some bad weed with it and choked to death on it.  It sucked having to still pay for a radio and you put on your credit card and not having it anymore.

Now I am trying to build myself a decent budget system.  I plan on installing a Pioneer radio, nothing fancy but nice.  Wanted something that matched my dash gauges in cool, so going Pioneer.  Debating on putting components in all 4 doors or just getting some 3 or 4 ways (6.5").  The biggest thing is putting a small sub in my hatchback and not lose storage space.  My car is an 04 Toyota Matrix, I paid cash for it and it gets over 30 mpg, so for my daily 1.5 hour daily commute (45 there and 45 back) it is nice.  I've thought about finding a Matrix or Vibe in a salvage yard and pulling the enclosure for the monsoon sub that some came with and putting it my car, but I don't know if that would really be worth it.  I believe that they were only 6.5 speakers in a plastic enclosure.  I will probably build a small fiberglass enclosure for a single 8 in sub.  it will be covered in fabric so I won't have to worry about getting the visible part of the enclosure real smooth.

Any advise that someone could provide me would be great.
