I have 1-cosx^3, and need to end up with 1-cosx+cosx^2

so far I have 1-(cosx)(cosx^2)

=1-(cosx)(1-sinx^2)

=1-(cosx)(1-(1-cosx^2))

the closest I can get is

1-cosx-(cosx(1-cosx^2))

1-cosx-cosx+cosx^2

1-2cosx+cosx^2

wtf am I doing wrong?
