Sundown X or... -1500watts

So I have decided to sell my DC lvl 4(XL soft parts) 10s for something different. I love those subs, but I can't give them the power they need so I'm wanting to replace them with a single woofer, most likely a 12" but would prefer a 15". It will be going in a 2002 Ford Ranger. I have 3.2 cubes before port or driver displacement(if I go with my current box plan, I can get more if I go for a 15) I want to keep it below $400. Also I only plan on running between 1200-1500 watts.

My main goal is to have a woofer that will play down low very well and sound good while doing it. I don't care to have the loudest setup, just the lowest around town still. Which is why I felt the X would do well. But I was just wondering if there were other/ better options for this goal.

Thanks

If you're looking for good low end response, consider a t-line. If you don't have room for one, then make a vented box as large as possible and tune it to ~30-32Hz. I would recommend 2.5 cubes for the X12 or 3.5 for the 15.

AA havoc would do well, TC Axis, and SSA Icon. These are all subs that I would personally have on the short list for quality sounding low end. My personal choice would be the TC as I believe it is the exact sub you are describing in your post but it will be fully capable of loud as well. The havoc and axis are 30 bucks out of your price range though giving a boost to the Icon for best bang for buck.

The AA Havoc I have considered, but the more I think about it I'd like to try a 15" sub in the 3.2ft^3 I mentioned earlier and invert mount it, then use an Aero port on the outside bottom of the box and cover the port with the amp rack I am building. So which one of those 15s would perform well in that application or in ~3 cubes regularly mounted on

None

I have a driver for sale that fits your requirements.

15" Dual 2

Crystal CompX2 motor and recone from FMS

Sundown Zv.2 aluminum coil

Well under your top end for price.

That's pretty much what I have found. I have not owned but one 15" subwoofer ever, and that was a Kicker L5 in 6 cubes. I just was curious. For now I'm gonna play around with building a new box for my DC and venture in to the world of fourth order enclosures. If that doesn't do what I want it to I guess I'll try a single 12 in a large ported box.

Might want to go with a DC level 3/4 15" if you want to go small with the airspace.
