Sundown turns itself off

yeah my name is stupid
This 1500D doesnt go into protect, but if I turn it up sometimes it turns itself off for a few seconds and comes right back on. It did this when I first hooked it up, then earlier it lpayed just fine, and now it is doing it again

the red light isnt comin on, what could cause this? and i have a good ground by the way

When the amp cuts out it sparks at the fuse on my distro block. It has 0/1 guage going in and 4 guage coming out for a few feet to the amp. It is a 150 Amp fuse

Nope not a chance its actually not pulling as much current as it should be. With my CA600 hooked up along with it Im getting slight dimming of the lights inside, with just the Sundown my voltage was only dropping to 13.9

and its been doing this the whole time, even with my voltage only dropping to 13.9

I have no bass boost or any of that crap enabled either so I dont think it could be clipping...am I right...my H/U is only at 45/62

My ground is connected to bare metal on the "humps" in the trunk. There is a bolt coming up already so I removed the nut and sanded the metal bare then put the terminal on it and replaced the nut. This shouldnt be a problem right?

This is frustrating as hell because it worked for abouta n hour earlier

Something has to be loose and dropping voltage. Measure the voltage AT the amplifier power/ground inputs with a DMM. I saw this happen one time with some SAX-100.2 amps and the amps were only seeing 5 volts due to a voltage drop across an AGU fuse. Your situation is intermittant so something is loose and shaking around more than likely.

Indeed, and since it is "sparking" at the fuse in the distro block he might have a bad fuse or something miswired there.....

B&W beat me 2 it...damn
I'll beat you!!!! WITH A CLUB!!!!

How the hell could a distro be wired wrong, that doesnt make any sense.
Ill check the power wire at the amp, thast what you were saying right Sundownz?
Correct, you need to measure voltage AT the amplifier terminals. If the amp is acting as your describe then something, somewhere is loose and is shaking loose and then coming into contact again. Check the battery terminal connection, fuse connections, distro connections, and amp terminal connections as well if voltage checks out okay.

but it only happens on loud bass or times when the amp would be strained, could your theory still be it? im gonna check when i get off work ill keep you guys posted.

Absolutely. If something is loose it also has more resitance thus it will get hot... as it gets hotter resistance increases, more current is dropped... and so on. Eventually the amp will just shut down without so much as a protection light if voltage gets extremely low.
