Am trying to decide on a new amp for my next build. Am wanting an amp that will do rated power but isn't power hungry like some of the amps that I've used in the past. I have heard a lot about the sundown saz-1500 but not much about the saz-1200. I've heard a lot about the AB HD subs but not much about their amps, do they do rated power. I see that its rated at 1600 at 1 ohm but their isn't a 2ohm rating.

Any help with some info would be great.

Thanks.

ive never had the pleasure to run any american bass amps but have heard that they will do more than rated except for maybe the small foot print amps. i own a sae-1200d which should be very similiar to the saz-1200d and this thing is a powerhouse. jacob clamped it at 1770 watts i believe at 1.35 ohms after box rise. are you trying to run these at 2 ohm? im sure mylows could help you with any american bass questions.

Thanks for the heads up. Anyway the vfl amp is what you want if you want the AB amps. The saz amps are very nice. But a bit pricey if you want new. You also may wanna look at the rd 1750 or rd 1000 amps also very underrated amps but a bit pricey same board as the saz v1 people have said that they were basically the same amps and almost looked the same to A budget would help me with your amp suggestion first and foremost and if your wanting new or used ?

Am wanting to buy new but saw some refurbished sundown 1200s at db-r.com for for around 300 shipped. Aftet searching some more i found the american bass hd amps which are in my price range. Does there HD 2500 and 3500 do rated rms power? Ill be running whatever i get on my stock altetnator and a xs power 5100 battery. Stock alt does 120 amps at 3000 rpm in a 03 dakota and I've also done the big 3. Am very interested in the HD2500, any type of info on this amp would help big time. Are they power hungry?

Thanks

The only one that's in my price range is da VFL80.1 and that's 1000 watts rms. Wouldn't the HD2500 put out more power and its a lil less. I plan on using this on a pair of the new line of the Obsidian 12v3. Will the VFL80.1 be sufficient or will the HD be better suited?

look at the vfl 4480 2200 rms at 1 ohm and .5 stable i have them for 350 shipped new .the hd amps arent as efficient as the vfl line

I tend to agree with the majority hear. I would go with the vfl line as well. I own a vfl100.1 and absolutely love it. But on the other hand I've also heard great things about the saz. Both excellent amps in my opinion. I've seen the HD series by american bass but I haven't heard one of them or researched them at all. But if your looking for a quality amp I can tell you that the vfls are top notch

Any idea on actual output power of the vfl80.1. Its say 1000 rms but what type power does it really do? am looking for around 1200-15000 watts rms
