Sundown SA-8 V2 or 10" RF P3 in a truck?

Over the weekend I built a ported box and threw my sundown 8 in the truck. I am very impressed by the sub overall, couldnt be happier with the sound but the box is a little too big and its hard to go smaller considering the port area needed. I have an older P310D4 and half a sheet of mdf left that could go to good use. Im thinking about building an angled box with the sub firing into the passenger seat and a round port facing the drivers side. Can anybody say how this setup with the P3 will compare to the sundown? Can I make the P3 sound as good as the sundown with the right box?

Anybody have some input on this? The P3 has more cone area obviously but a less excursion as well.

In case anyone is following this I built the ported box for my 10" P3 tuned to about 34 HZ using a port made of 3" PVC pipe. The box fits behind the passenger seat and lets it go all the way back and recline unlike the box I made for my SA-8. This new setup is definitely louder than the SA-8, maybe its just the way the sub and port are facing but I was surprised by this new setup. There is a small amount of port noise but I think I can fix that by rounding the inside end of the port. If I ever get bored with it I might just pick up a better 10 that can handle my 900 watt rms kenwood amp and run it in the same box.

You could try using an aero port instead of standard pvc. Might get rid of that port noise. Pics of the setup?

The box looks kinda crappy but its behind the seat so who cares. I didn't wanna dig out the dremel so I did kind of a half *** job on rounding the port with a file. The port noise isn't loud so I think digging out the dremel and doing it right will be enough to clear it up.
