sundown 1500d problem

I just bought a Sundown 1500d from a very reputable person on this forum but the amp is having a problem with the power surge. When you turn the ignition on (not cranked) amp comes on. Then if you crank it it goes into protect mode. You then have to turn the HU off and back on before the amp will turn back on. Is something wrong with the amp or are these been known to do this and is there a way to fix this problem?

I have run Sundown for a long time and never had this problem..I had a pair of 1500's at first and they'd only go into protect when I ran them down to .125ohm a piece.. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

Check and make sure none of the wires are pinched or shorting out anywhere..The best man to ask would be the man himself...sundownz@sundownaudio.com //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/veryhappy.gif.fec4fed33b4a1279cf10bdd45a039dae.gif

Try measuring the remote wire as you crank the car, and see if it drops. It COULD be possible that its turning off and on too fast for the amplifier to respond, and it goes into protect until you restart it slower. I'm not sure, but i am sure Jake will chime in by the morning.

How is your electrical? See where your voltage is when it goes into protect. I would also check the grounds. Buddy of mine was having a similar problem. turned out his ground wasnt secure so when he rode over bumps and what not the sub amp would go into protect.

I couldnt see it being a ground issue if its on, and then when he cranks the car on it goes into protect.. What could possibly change with just flicking the ignition on, first thing i assume is remote voltage. second i would think of is the amp voltage might drop when the car is cranked up, possibly too big of a load on a dieing battery cause the amplifier to restart too quickly like i said in my above post? I'm just talking out of my ***, but i figure something might be helpful //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

what kind of hu??

some of the older and cheaper hu's had problem with the remote signal surging and some times making that popping sound or other problems.

also do you have it jumped off to multiple amps or jumped off from another amp to the sd??

I could swear I've seen somebody with this exact issue with a 1500 either here or on ssa, can't seem to find the thread atm...maybe somebody else remembers it and the resolution.

My guess would be remote voltage drops or spikes during the vehicle start

Has happened to me before as well. Its just from turning it on and off to quick and to much. Turn the ignition let it turn on wait about 30 seconds then crank it and it should not go into protect. Mine use to do this when I changed CD's its not the amp what so ever its a relay or some shit. Whenever I would chang CD's it would turn the HU off. Then it would turn back on automatically into protect. Like I said though im 100% positive its NOT the amp.

On SSA, thats why i'm giving the same suggestions that were given in that thread to narrow some things down. I don't think the problem was figured out, i think it was a foreign guys amp if its the thread i'm recalling..

Edit: I was thinking of a guy in the caribean with a 3000D i believe, i'll see what the resolution was

My HU is a JVC KW-AVX706 7"indash dvd combo.

To your second question, the remote wire is first ran to my JL 300/4 and then jumped from that amp to the Sundown...Problem with that?
