Suggestions for rear speakers.

hey ppl.

Now that I've got my Clarion DXZ835MP installed, I'm planning to get some speakers to go with it. What are the choices of speakers if my budget is about $130US? I'm looking at the Infinity Kappa 693.5i but I haven't found a good review on it yet...

I also want matching front speakers(Kappa 63.5i)...and my budget for that is about $100US.

Any other suggestions will be appreciated. Looking for the best buy.

Thanks in advance!

These CDT CL 4x/6x are pretty good. Major price break on them too. I've got some 6's and 4's, they sound pretty nice. $45, free shipping normally was $100 or so.

The CL61's are pretty good too. If they still have any in stock they are half price also, at about $150 currently. That's if you're looking for component speakers.

The SQ people won't reccomend full range speakers for rear fill though. I'm one of those foolish guys that likes good sounding rear fill, even if it does promote cancellation problems. Its just more versatile then front only, better suits my needs.

well im looking for speakers to replace my stock speakers. Front and Rear. that why im not really looking for component systems. how are these CDT compare to the infinity? Anyone?

Thanks for the suggestions!

Anymore?

The CDT's are the best buy for the money, especially since they are on sale at thezeb. For full range coax speakers they're going to have the best sound compared to other speakers under $100. Hell, even compared to speakers over $100. Anyway, go with the CDT CL "slim" series and you won't be dissapointed!

All of them are listed here, for whatever size you need.

The zeb is a good site. Everything ships 2-3 day and they're nice guys that work there. Plus those CDT's come with 3 year warranty!

Okay after some researching here is what I have concluded of what I need.

I will not be running a sub in the car at the moment due to trunk space and money issue.

I want to get a 6X9 speaker for my back and get 6.5" components for the front speakers. I'm looking for something more clear and crisp compare to my stock speakers. I'm also looking for something that will give me a nice bass (since I don't have a sub yet). I want to also get a nice amp to amp the speakers.

The CDT speakers sound like a good deal...it is just that I am new to car audio and haven't really heard much about CDTaudio. So I need abit more reviews. I also can't find any CDT 6X9 speakers for my rear on thezeb. I'm looking at the CL-61a as my front component now.

Thanks for all the suggestions above, any more suggestion to my setup is appreciated. As well, I was wondering which amp (2ch or 4ch) should I get and how I should amp my speakers to get the best SQ.

For the SQ ppl: What is the best setup I can do with just speakers and amp with the current HU I have (DXZ835MP)?

Thanks!!

get 6.5's for the rear they will sound a lot better than 6x9's. they make adapter plates for 6.5's to fit in a 6x9 hole for like $10 at sounddomain if you are worried about them fitting. the round speaker to me sounds better than an oval speaker. i never listened to the cdt cl-6x 6.5's but if they are like there components you will like them more then the infinity's. i used to use all infinity speakers. i noticed there small speakers are a lot better than the big ones. the only infinity's i still have left are my 4x6 plates in my dash. for rear fill i would look into them cl-6x speakers.

also with your setup i would look to get a 4 channel amp. i have a 6 speaker setup in my car and what i did was hook the dash speakers to the front channels and door components to the rear channels of the amp and ran my rear fill (which is currently 6x9's and i plan to go with the cl-6x) off of my head unit. i also have a couple of subs too so that also makes it were i don't need as much rear fill. look into a us acoustics 4065 or 4085 for a 4-channel amp.

Heres an idea... Get a nice set of components up front (CDT's at the zeb, Vipers at sounddomain)

http://www.thezeb.com/caraudio/CDT_Audio_Components.html

http://www.sounddomain.com/shoplist~b~DEI~t~Component+Speaker+Systems

that will be ~150

Get some tang band 6x9s

http://nuera-acoustic.ca/products.html

Product number (W69-1042) ~70

and a nice 4 channel amp that puts out some decent power (Profile CL640) ~110

http://www.ikesound.com/product-product_id/1016

Then if you really want some bass, make a box for the 6x9s and screw it down to your rear deck.

That should sound good.

At first you said you didn't want components, then you said you do want components... so here's what I would do with your budget of $250 total for 4 speakers.

For front component speakers get CDT CL61a's... they are $150 and were originally $310 but the paint is just faded on them. So you save $160 because the paint is faded... and these will give you some nice bass... its no woofer but its nice still bass.

Get these here http://www.thezeb.com/caraudio/CDT_Audio_Components.html

For rear 6x9's I'd get an adapter plate and put in some ROUND speakers because they don't distort like oval ones do at higher volume. I'd get some CDT CL6x's for the rear which are only $45 w/free shipping right now.

Get these here http://www.thezeb.com/caraudio/CDT_Audio_FullRange.html

For a nice 4 channel amp, once you get some more cash, go with a US acoustics 4065 65Wx4 amp. Its under rated and its cheap at $130 but compares to MUCH MUCH more expensive amps. You'll have to spend like $30 hooking this amp up too btw.

Get this here http://www.crutchfield.com/S-81FzwikeRKG/cgi-bin/ProdView.asp?i=235USB4065

Of course, if you go with JUST two pairs of the CL6x's you'll only have to spend $90 total so if you're on a tight budget I'd consider it.

If you really want bass you have to get a woofer/amp so if you went with the last option you could save up for a couple woofers and amp to run them off of.

The best sound quality would be if you ran components up front, NO rear fill speakers... and a sub but that is out of your current budget too. If you do plan on getting a sub later I would go with CL61a's up front, no rear fill, and a sub/amp later.

Anyway, I think if you're on a tight budget you should go with two pairs of CL6x's. This would greatly improved your sound system and only cost $90. Not only this but the installation would take somebody, with little or no experience in car audio, 15 minutes to install.

thank you to everyone for their input.

I did not know about an adapter for 6.5" --> 6X9...

now that you say so, I'm totally convinced.

I'm going to go with the suggestion and get the CL-61a for front and CL-6x for rear. I will hook these up to the HU for now. I will ask for more suggestions as to which amp to get later on.

Thanks everyone.

If anyone has experience with CDT speakers, I hope you can leave some feedback on it!

btw: are these what I'm looking for? http://www.sounddomain.com/sku/SCOSA69

There was a review saying how these things rattle. Is that true? And while I'm at this, I also want to dampen my trunk. The thing is, at high volume, my trunk makes a rattle sound and I want to prevent it. Which product is easy to use and cheap yet good quality to decrease the rattling? Thanks

Yeah that works. Or... you could build 3/4" MDF boxes for the rear speakers and integrate them into your rear deck for about $12. $12 would get you the MDF, liquid nails, and screws needed. That's if you have a circular saw, rotozip, and a little skill at carpentry. Its a project. I did it with my tiny isuzu truck's speakers, since I have no room for a sub. Not sure if it added bass or not though lol.

Warning: If you are listenening to a lot of heavy bass you'll still have to get a woofer eventually for SQ though.

I'm gonna throw in my 2 Pence and tell you that 6X9's play lower than 6.5's (dollar for dollar). If you'r looking for bass from the rears in lieu of subs, I'd still recommend 6x9's. My Reference's have more output at 40 Hz than the 8" Kicker midbass speakers that I had in there.

For fronts you want the clarity and accuracy of round speakers. For rears you want them to go as low as possible.

YMMV.

Yeah those would be nice! However, considering his budget I don't think that's the best thing for him. Especially considering he would need 110W RMS just to run those infiniti 6x9's. That isn't going to happen off his h/u

ahhh im in confusion again....which is good...cuz I want to get the best speaker with the budget I have with no regrets (not planning to change the setup).

Thanks to all who have suggested so far.

I have learned that I should use components for my front door speakers (6.5")

Now it is the matter of should I get 6.5" or 6X9 for the rear fill.

maylar pointed out that becuz I'm not gonna have a sub (at least not anytime soon) i should get 6X9 cuz they play lower.

as kungfoojesus pointed out, I would need 110W RMS to run them and I can't use my HU to do that.

This is what I have come up with.

I will throw in abit of cash (since I changed my mind and going to get components for the front) tat leaves me with 150$ for rear and 150$ for front.

How about this setup:

Infinity KAPPA 693.5I

Infinity KAPPA 60.5CS

Questions:

how does this setup compare with CDT CL-6x and CDT CL-61a?

can I run them off my HU for a while (a month or so) then get an amp? will running off my HU damage the HU or speakers themselves?

If there is a better setup for the budget I have, please don't hesitate to give me some tips

sorry fer being a noob....im learning as fast as I can //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

thanks fer ur patience and suggestions.
