dont know much about caps but i do believe i read on a stinger once that it was 20v with 24volt surge...

capacitors are measured in Farads...it probably has an output of 20v...for higher amp power...

but the capacity of the cap is measured in farads...

Not if the cap is charged....it can have a high output...

It might have a capacity (working voltage) of up to 20v but It's not going to make your 12-14 volt input increase in voltage output.

As Mavster said above capacitors value is measured in Farads. They also have a working voltage value stamped on them. Next time you are at Radio Shack look at the small ones hanging on the wall and check out the info on the package.

Yes there can be 20v capacitors... Can they be used to their potential in a standard 14.4v system? no.

Those running 2 electrical systems can easily reach over 14.4v

The cap is RATED for UP TO 20-volts. Meaning it can be installed in an electrical system from 1-20volts If it were a 10V cap, it wouldn't work in a 12V application.
