Subwoofers just stay on, don't beat to music.

OK, so I just installed my 2 kickers in my Acura mdx. Something went wrong somewhere and I'm not not exactly sure what to do.

I've installed subs in about 5 other cars so it's not something I'm new to but I've never experienced this before.

After hooking up my headunit (it works fine) I then installed my amp and subs. The back of my headunit has two output's for the RCA's and one says rear/SW and the other says front.

When I hook it up to the one that says rear/sw my subs stay on despite the volume of the radio being all the way down. I can adjust the amp and make the subs louder or softer but they still stay on. I decided to try and hook it to he output that says front and they seemed to work normal for about 20 seconds then they turned on full blast and the only way to make them stop was to shut the car off.

I'm lost, I thought it might be something to do with the blue remote wire, I have a blue remote wire coming from the headunit, another one from the harness and the one going to the amp.

These subs and amp were recently hooked up in my chrysler 300 with no problems at all, the only thing different was the toggle switch I had installed.

Any help at all would be great, sorry for the long read but I really don't want to pay someone 100 bucks to fix this. Thanks in advance.

Just to be sure, the wire on the harness that you attached the remote to is a blue wire WITH a white stripe?

The wire coming for my headunit is blue with a white stripe, the one coming from the harness is solid blue. Don't think there is another blue wire from the harness but I'll double check tomorrow.

Thanks for the fast reply.

Edit: When I say the subs would stay on regardless of volume on the HU, They don't produce any audible at all, just bass.

isolate your power/gnd/remote at the headunit, and the amps. check that each wire is correctly going to each terminal. ensure the only thing connecting your headunit and amp should is your RCA's and the remote wire. ensure that your speaker wires go to the speakers and nothing else, do the same with your subs. Completely bypass the factory amp.

Update to my previous reply is if a ground came loose, it can cause the subs to make a terrible deep continuous hum.....make sure all connections are tight.

Certainly can. Does your car have a factory subwoofer??
Also when you say your subs stay on, are they making a deep humming noise?
Hi, thanks for the reply.

It has a factory subwoofer that I removed because it was blown. When I say the subs stay on, I mean they work as if I put a song on that does a continuous blast of bass. It's like they are on full blast, if I connect the RCA's to the rear/sw I can adjust the gain and it will lower how load the subs are, No music comes from the subs, changing the volume or song on the radio doesn't change the subs at all.

They aren't humming or anything like that. It's literally like the subs are on full blast all the time, Sorry I don't know how else to explain it..

My ground seems tight, I drilled into the metal that was holding the factory sub. It was just the closest and easily accessible since I already had it open. Maybe I should change it and see what happens.

I hooked my HU up with a wire harness, and just added the remote wire to the two remote wires coming from the headunit and the harness. Not sure how the factory amp is hooked up, I'll have to look into that in the morning and get back to you.

your subwoofer amplifier is getting signal that it shouldnt be getting. probably a line in connection or something, you really need to do your best to make sure the wiring is proper. if you find the wiring to be correct for the basics then we'll have to discuss whether it could be something else
