Subs will not get any louder?

So I have 2 12" Infinity Perfects in a ported enclosure with 800 watts rms going into them. When I start cranking my music I notice on some songs when I try to put my subwoofer level up on my deck (just for testing to see what they can do) They do not get any louder with each increase. I could go from +1 to +6 and not notice any increase in bass. And usually at medium levels each level up increases the bass a lot. My question is why is this happening??? Is my amp maxed out? Subs maxed out?? My electrical system? Its weird too cause its not like my subs start distorting or anything they just do not change at all. So have I reached my limit??

2 perfects should get fairly loud in the right enclosure. what air space and port tuning are they?

Your clipping your amp. Therefore distorting your subs. That is bad.

I did the same thing when I had a mtx8500 and sony amp. Turn down your gains some and you'll hear increases all the way up - but it won't be as loud as you like. So you'll turn it back up and say f*ck it. That's just how it goes.

Buy better subs + amp and then you'll be happy.

Hmm this happened to my old 1205 and Type R in my friends sealed box in his car, I thought it was the box that made this happen, because when I had it it was 3.5 cu ft and 32hz never had the problem, so I think it's your box...

You could be reaching the limit of the amp or you could just be hitting the power compression point of the subs. There is a point where adding more power simply doesn't get you more output. Which is the case is impossible to tell and it could easily be a combination of the two.

my enclosure is a 3.4cu ported and tuned at 33hz.

somebody said buy better subs and amps. I have a PPI PCX2200 and as you now from my original post I have 2 12"Perfects. what would you suggest would be much better??

Kinda stupid and OT, but what HU are you running?

You said you turn the sub up, so I'm assuming you have an independent sub control. You might have hooked your RCAs up incorrectly. Instead of hooking them up to the dedicated Sub Output on the CD player, there is a chance you could have hooked it up to your rear RCAs.

*Edit* - - Put on one of those songs you're talking about. Turn your volume 1/3 or so the way up. Adjust it with the sub control, if it doesnt get noticeably louder you might want to check RCAs

i don't like the newer ppi stuff. put those in closer to 4 cubes tuned to 28hz. they are a very nice sub. not particularly good for spl, but they get decently loud as well. maybe a better amp also.

i know its in the right sub pre out on my premier deck. At medium volume, the sub level makes a big difference. I think its just the limit of the subs or amp, wish I could know for sure.

What would be a much better amp then mine and more of a SQL sub rather than my SQ perfects??

Sundown 1500D, RD 1750.1
Always my suggestions

Anywho, how much room do you have?

And yeah, if the RCA's are in the correct pre out then it's your sub/amp combo.
just blew my subs 15 minutes ago!! started another thread about it. Now time for a seriously amazing substage. Let the researching begin!!!!
