sub wiring

i have a precision power 2350, 700 x 2 at 2 ohms, 1400 x 1 4 ohms. have 2 alpine type r's dual 4's. should i wire them to 8 ohms/sub then down to 4 and parallel them to the amp for the 1400 x 1 at 4 ohms or parallel the coils and run 700 x 2 at 2 ohms. makes no difference in terms of power, but which way is easier on the amp? maybe this is a moot point and the sound and heat is nominal. no amp i've owned has wired up this way.

first of all i think you have the specs on your amp wrong which i've never heard of a 2350 by PP.. it would be 700 @ 4ohms and 1400 @ 2 ohms not the other way around like you had it.. and you would have to run those R's @ 4ohms to play it safe with your amp unless it can handle.. maybe someone else can let you know on that.

I'd bridge the amp and then wire the subs like so:

As you stated - doing it this way as opposed to running each sub off of its own channel makes no real difference in terms of amplifier output but given a 4 Ohm load rather than a 2 Ohm load per channel will allow the amp to run a bit cooler.

Cooler running = better amplifier longevity.

Nice amp by the way - ought to sound good provided you give the subs an appropriate enclosure. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

appreciate the input greatly. now i have 2 class a/b amps running and no upgrades to stock electrical yet. the other is an xtant 4004a, which is also demanding on power, even on just the components. until now the best amp i've ever owned in terms of quality. very underrated. i'm gonna wire the subs to the 4 ohm load you suggested. makes sense to me. like ga12r said, they are very power hungry so an electrical upgrade is now imperative. the subs are in a custom enclosuer at 1.85 cu. ft./.925 per sub, sealed. my first box. they sound really good, and get pretty loud. if anyone thinks i should change the the size, please feel free to chime in. spent 3 weeks building this. put a plexi window in to see the rear side of the sub ( 3/4 plexi ), painted the inside chrome and ran 4 small red lights on the inside off my remote turn on. looks ok for first build. gonna try again and get a little better on the carpeting next time.
