Sub wiring help

I'm wiring up the sub in my sig, and although this may seem like a stupid question. I'd rather ask and not mess up the sub.

The wiring diagram shows a separate wire connecting the pos and neg and each side, should I just cut off a part of the speaker wire, pull out the separate speaker wires and connect them? Is that what your supposed to do?

Sorry for the noob question. First D2 sub I have owned personally.

use small lengths of wire to connect the two positive terminals and two negative terminals then they will be in parallel
