sub-to-port clearance?

Are the subs located too close to the port opening inside of the box? They are about 2.25" from the port walls and oriented as shown in one of the pics below.

the closer they are to the end of the port the closer they are to free air almost. try to get them closer together in the port wall region.idk just seems like a better deal.

 
dude how did u get the measurements for that box? did u take the mesurments of an L port and instead of making a second wall did two equal walls or what i am wanting do one like this but don't know how to get the port tuned right, any help would be awesome and......

what if you put 2 subs on top and 2 on front of box that way u won't have to worry about 2 of them going free air seen it done once with 4 15's and 4 pioneer 10's and sound fine to me but do what u think is right for you
