OK, let's here some of the stupid stuff you remember doing and looking back are just amazed at how far you've come LOL... My thread, I'll start it off

I bought a 12" American Bass sub from one of those "electronics close out" sale things. pretty neat looking, bright red, shiney and it had a clear logo that lit up red in the center of the cone. ANYWAYS, I had not clue what a "DVC" sub was and when I hooked it up, I just hooked up my amp to a single coil. and it was in a really small (probably 1ft^3) box that was originally for a pair of 10"s but we cut it in half and cut the hole for a 12". Did I mention it just sat in the back seat of the car (1988 mustang convertible).

iit was dark outside, dome light was dim.... hooked up ground to power, power to ground to a dls A3. fuses shot out, amp smoked like hell. all it did was blow the fuses. replaced fuses... amp worked great. thought amp was fried. didnt attempt to replace fuses till i had the amp boxed up ready to send to dls. dont hook up your amp in the dark!

I had a 8" amplified tube, and my dad and I ran 10 gauge power wire to it, fused. Well one day, the wire caught a snag (ran through passenger side door), grounded out and blew the fuse. I thought the fuse is what caused the problem, so I removed the fuse holder completely...

Then proceeded to change my system to a 300W AB class amplifier. With the same 10 gauge power. And 16 gauge ground. Do you see where this is going? :facepalm:

Can't believe that never caught fire...

Oh and first amp was a wicked sweet Dual 300w. Dual ftmfw.

took a dvc house sub and put it in my gf's car when we were 16, cut the speaker wire on her rear deck speakers, and ran wire into each coil off a pioneer deck...17rms per channel...that bad boy was poundin!!

I spent about 800bucks for my first system when I was 15. It consisted of 2 12 jl w0s and a kicker 350.2. I still can't believe I paid that much for that equipment

Oh, one day I had the dash apart to install a radio (without the battery unhooked) and saw a mini fire ignite under my dash. I noticed the red glow coming from inside of the dash somewhere.
