If you're talking about those little prefab single 12 or 10" boxes with the black trim on them - they're really not bad at all for people who cant afford (or have no desire to build) one that fits their vehcile properly.

If I was going to just throw a sub in my girlfriend's car or something, I wouldn't totall not consider buying one of those.

So yesterday I was bored so I was hanging around in the local Best Buy's install bay (a friend works at the store), and I got to talking about these really, really, crappy boxes they just got in. Anyways, here is a conversation I had with one of the new installers they just hired.

Me: You guys just got in some shitty new ported boxes.

Him: No we didn't, they are nice ones.

Me: ...they're pre-fabs, they sound like ***.

Me: ....orly? (I died laughing.) No. They need to be tuned right.

Him: Yeah, only the $500 boxes. There is no difference so it's not worth it. It only really matters if you are pushing for than 1500 watts.

Me: I walked away.

This is guy is a moron. He's said some stupid stuff, but this one was hilarious for some reason.

To the OP, its not that we all didnt get a little chuckle out of the story, the issue is that this topic has been beat to death on here. most people here take it as a given that if youve spent a year, sometimes even a couple months reading threads and asking questions on here that in general you know more than most of the CC and BB installers.

ive got a friend that was manager, head installer at a cc roadshop and just after 2 years on here i honestly think i know more than he does. he has more knowledge on how to take apart many different cars but when it comes to the actual installing, product knowledge id trust myself over him.

that is why you are getting endlessly flamed.

Me: You guys just got in some shitty new chicken boxes.

Him: No we didn't, they are nice ones.

Me: ...the chicken is pre-processed, it smells like ***.

Him: A chicken box is a chicken box. You can take a KFC box and print a few colors on it and it will look the same.

Me: ....orly? (I died laughing.) No. They need to be cooked right.

Him: Yeah, only the crispy chicken. There is no difference so it's not worth it. It only really matters if you are cookin for more than 1500 brothers.

Me: I walked away.

This is guy is a mormon. He's said some stupid stuff, but this one was hilarious for some reason.
