stupid alt!

sooo....upgrading my alt wire today, got it to the point where averything was almost good........then check voltage......16 volts at idle with my system goin....i thought it was awesome......so then i shut it off to tighten up all the bolts.......tightening.....snap broke the screw on my alt..........

so now I've gotta get a ride tommaorw to the junkyard to steal one of these bolts! then reassemble the alt again.........

looks pretty difficult to get the springs and brushes in place but its gotta be done!

i was sooo pumped that i was gettin a solid 16 volts with the system going! but then it all came undone when that bolt got sooooo easy to turn then pop its off good thing there wasnt any little kids around...........their ears woulda been bleeding HEHEHE //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Do you have HC amplifiers that can take that kind of voltage?

well that 16 was right at the batt so it prolly loses a bit going to the trunk and that was playin some punk music so with a nice bass cd it will prolly drop considerably.....

well even if there was a considerable voltage drop im sure your still gonna be looking at a good 15v......which probably wont hurt anything since amps are designed to run at around 14.4 on down.....hopefully u dont hurt ur amps tho....

Be aware that automotive stuff like batteries, light bulbs, computers, etc start burning out rapidly at 16 volts. If that measurement is correct I'd be scared.

i was about to say that. IMO the only way i would ever use anything that advertises it will put out more than 14 volts for a daily use would be a 2nd dedicated isolated battery for my audio system that does 16 volts. a buddy of mine lost his car b/c he used a 16 volt battery and his car caught fire.

wellll i went and bought a new alt........only to find that its pooched...... so then i got rebuildin mine for the forth time.. i got the bolts mixed up so now it is running perfectly again!!!
