Stuck In a rutt

Waiting for the 1st **** post.

And yeah I've heard, I just couldn't get into it, bad family line on my moms side with addictions.

Imnot trying to sob out to anyone, just seeing how others feel too, I mean I gladly wouldn't have any issues with something new.

Yeah, it ***** having family members with issues like that. The thing you have to realize is that most of it is either chemical dependence(meaning they really couldn't help it), or that their choices/surroundings in life made them the way that they are. Regardless of how many "scientists" say that "mental issues" are genetic, most of them simply are not. These "mental issues" are way more common than you'd think. Life truly does ****, and people deal with the trauma differently. Some strive to better themselves, some do drugs to escape, some troll the Internets(Spider Monkey, anyone?), play video games, molest children, kill themselves, develop mental disorders, etc.

Diseases are a completely different story.

The most important thing for you to remember is that you define yourself. Genetics don't define you, your hometown doesn't define you, the way people see you doesn't define you. You control your fate, and effectively you're reality. Life's what you make it.

Yeah that's how I see it, you make your life.

The hard part is when feelings and knowledge collide. Weighing choice.

Need my bestfriend back, sounds weak but idc.

The part I hate is when I began to feel replaceable. That's probably when this kicked in,

Used to be the center of my friends, now on the skirts

Not too different in out situations it seems. How is colorado? One of the few states I've thought about moving to down the line?

I guess itll get better down the line, but if I could redo the last few yrs I would.

Ummm....I strongly suggest you do more research and understand the scientific process of where these claims derive from. Additionally, sorry to let you know genetics actually do define who we are considering we have 46 chromosomes, 23 from one parent and 23 from another parent. These genes make up not only our physical properties (phenotypes), but our chemical make up (genotypes) as well. You probably know all this already. I just strongly disagree with your statements; especially if one examines and analyzes twin studies. Now, I do believe that we also define ourselves and that it is about 60% genes and 40% what we make of it--and research supports this.

Life is what you make of it, but sometimes we are restricted by our environment (this includes our genes). I live by "doing the best I can with what I got!" Generally, this makes me happy. No hostility here, just expressing my experience and education, this is coming from a current PhD clinical grad student....am I biased? sure. However, I never base anything from face-value nor do I make statements refuting science because it is a self-correcting process, and the truth always rears itself in science (and for twin studies it has).
