Stuck cassette tape

I have a car, which is pretty much totaled. I have a tape stuck in the tape player, and was wondering how to get it out. I read the owners manual for the car and it said it can be done if the ignition and the sound system is off. Obviously the ignition is off, but I'm not sure about the sound system. What do you reccomen that I do. I would really like to get the tape back because it is one that you can plug into your iPod or CD player to listen to your music over the stereo. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I thought the same thing.....but now i'm using tapes as well. The Cars ftw

Hummm, you could try the pushing your finger up against the eject button.

Is the problem just that there's no power to the radio because the car is wrecked? If it's a motorized eject, you still need battery power even if the ignition and radio are off. (The radio on/radio off question doesn't matter if there's no battery power). Maybe you can remove the radio from the vehicle, and take it to a car audio shop so they can power it up and eject the tape.

Otherwise, a pair of needlenose pliers often works. If they don't, then you'll just have to spring $20 for another cassette adapter.

What kind of vehicle is it?

It's extremely easy to pull the radio out of that car. Pull off the small panel above the cupholder; 2 screws hide underneath. 2 more are over the radio. Remove all four and you can pull off the panel that covers the radio; the radio is held in by two 3/8" screws.

Find the red and black wire, strip the wires, and hook them up to a 12v supply and press eject.
