streaming videos via xbox360

How exactly do you steam "any" kind of file via the xbox? I got it working last night but it would only play certain files. I want it to play anything and everything so I can stream it in my living room. If someone could point me in the right direction I would really appreciate it.

starting dec. 4 you can play divx files.

there's only 2 or 3 formats that it can play at this point

yea, i have to convert my movies to wmv before i can stream them. just need windows media connect on your computer and have both connected to your network.

the fall xbox update adds DivX and XviD capability. You should be able to play most files then.

wait until december 4th, then it will be able to stream divx and xvid (files that are under the .avi)

You can stream them just like .wmv's then.

TO convert them go to google and type convert to wmv.

Buy(or build) an HTPC and do it right.

you can convert DVD's to xvid (if that is what you mean by...videos //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif ) and then stream them to the xbox starting tommorow.

no conversion needed.

use DVD Decrypter and AutoGK. Great quality.

Or you can use iriverter, it is by far the easiest.
