Strapping?

Should I strap two 1ohm amps 1000Rms together to do 2000 rms @2ohms, use seprate amps to each sub(down to 1 ohm per sub) or use one amp?

My set up is 2 12" dual 2ohms subs

Doesn't really matter.

Typically amplifiers of the same model will be incrementally cheaper as the power level increases.....for example typically a single 2kw amplifier would be cheaper than a pair of 1kw amplifiers of the same model line.

But you won't notice a difference in performance either way.....go the cheapest route whichever that may be.

However a single amplifier also simplifies installation; both wiring and physical installation of the amplifier(s) as well as typically consumes less space than two less powerful amplifiers.

I will be using two planet audio bb1350.1 to power two hifionics Atlas squares that are dual 2ohm subs. It cost so much to get a 2ohm amp that puts out at least 2k at 2ohms but if I broke them into single subs they run at 1ohm a piece and that not to bad to find a amp that runs 1k at 1ohm. Thanks.

Reasons to strap two amps are to put as much power into a voice coil as possible or to synchronize processing (gain, xover, remote level, etc), so that an adjustment on one amp affects both amps equally. Otherwise, power output remains the same strapped or not.

in my experiences, ive found that most amps tend to be slightly more efficient when run seperatly rather than strapped (i.e. - two amps each running at 1 ohm vs two amps strapped running at 2 ohms)
