Strange Alpine Problem, HELP!

Hopefully someone could shed some light on this problem I'm experiencing.

I recently had an Alpine 9815 installed in to my Honda Prelude. It's a great HU, but it does something strange that either my self or the shop that installed it can not figure out.

Every once in a while, when I go to my car, the display on the HU will be on. No music plays, but the display it lit. There is a direct line from the battery, and a dedicated ground. I have also checked to make sure that the illumination is connected to the correct wire. The shop that installed it even swapped the HU for a different, but yet the problem still exsists.

Does anyone have any ideas??

Please help, I'm getting pretty frustrated.

Wiring has got to be a problem somewhere. Mabye your speaker wire is goofy somewhere.

How could I check for this? Stupid question maybe, but what exactly is speaker wire grounding out??

i have an accord, and after i installed an amp to power my fronts (i ran new speaker wire) i does that every once and a while. All i do is take the face plate off and put it back on..maybe turn it off and on a few times...then it will work again.

i've had it happen to me after i redid all my wiring one day, it worked fine when the car was off, but when i had the car running, after about 7 minutes, i got no sound. it happened to me 4 times that day. the next day, the same thing happened to me, but this time i hit the mute botton, then i unmuted it, and the sound came back on and it never happened again

The problem for me is when the car is off for a while, I will notice that the display is still lit.

I would agree with that, but the shop that installed the HU used a wiring harness. wouldn't that take care of that mistake?

maybe your car is just possessed! Haha jk, good luck fixing it. I'm on the side it has to be the wiring. Speakers or from battery to the HU.

When you say speakers, what exactly do you mean? What would I look for?

that the connection from your HU to your speakers is just that and they aren't lose/speaker wire touching metal of the car. Just a thought. You don't hear too much about HU's displays turning on when you come to see them. lol.

yeah, it has to be something quirky. i wish the shop would figure it out already
