Stinky IA 40.1

Hey I have a IA 40.1 that I have been running on a 16V daily system. I noticed it before but not until recently when I have been heating the amp up I notice it smells like burning oil. I have opened it up and the board looks to have been sprayed from the manufacture with some type of oil and because the power supply gets pretty hot the oil is burning off. Has anyone had this happen and if so how long does it take to burn off? I am getting ready to get some PCB cleaner and go to town on it. Polo...

contact nick at incriminator. he can help. he comes on this forum sometimes. or http://www.incriminatoraudio.com go to contact. i have 2 i run at 12v never had this problem but mine only run for a min. or 2 at the time.

I have run mine hard at 0.5 (but 14 volts), and no smell. Had them open a couple of time too and no oil. Do you see any components (like caps) that are screwed up? A cap could have cracked and leaked out. . .

i run a pr of these amps. love mine. nick told me yesterday that they will be getting the new 20.1s soon(they are supposed to be smaller and just as bad azz) and the 40.1s will be next. the new beefed up 187 subs will be ready soon too.

OP, was this amp ever repaired? I'd vote cap trouble if you see an oily liquid.
