i am looking to purchase a stiffening capacitor but im not sure as to which i should look for nor which is better with a certain feature.....

the are both 1.5 farad Caps

but they each have different % ratings

CAPACITANCE: 1,500,000 uF (+ or -5 %)

OR

CAPACITANCE: 1,500,000 uF (+ or -10 %)

Which one would be the better purchase, and more importantly "if possible" could somebody explain what these %'s are really for.

Caps are not very good according to these people on here.

Are you looking to use it so your lights don't dim or to smooth out your voltage?

yes, mainly to stop my lights from dimming, i am running a jl audio 500/1 amp which according to jl, requires no more than 50 amps from the alt. my stock alt pushes 140 amps, and i almost never "crank" the radio all the way so im not worried about the cap helping the battery or the alt for the "required" amperage.... i just want to stop the pesky lights from dimming cause it SSOOOO annoying!!

caps whont help so much with light dimming. do the big three it's cheaper and more effective.

get a small batter like a kinetik 600 or 800 or you could get a batcap 800 or something similar. They are going to work a lot more efficiently than a capacitor ever will. plus there pretty close in price I believe (I haven't checked the price of a capacitor recently).

That's all you're running on a 140amp stock alternator? Sounds like something is seriously wrong with your charging system then.

What vehicle is this alternator in?

actually it is specked at 136 amps, but it is an '05 dodge dakota, it only does it when i crank the radio, when i do get in the mood to crank it i want to be able to with out worrying, or worse.......annoyances.
